Hyundai had a great month too.

Wow Honda is still taking a beating. IMO it's a sign that mundane styling and high in class pricing is catching up with them now that people don't have cash to throw around. Hyundai sales seem to be affecting Honda more than other import brands.

$25K discount on a 2008 M3 cab and 1% financing will sell cars.

EDIT:
Ugh.

Stop sending me PMs. The deal isn't available anymore. Last I read, someone got $18K off a 2008 M3. Financing is no longer available at that rate.

Definitely a rough month for Honda. Even Toyota.

Looking at the list though, a few things that surprised me was I would have never guessed that Mazda outsells Nissan or that Hyundai outsells both of them. Nissan seems to have a much bigger product line. I am just surprised. Although I guess in Canada, small cars are popular and the Sentra is no where near as good as the 3.

^ Surprised me too, but I think you're right, the 3 owns the Sentra.

The Sentra isn't even on the radar. Truth is that the only Nissan car that moves in decent numbers is the Altima. Nissan makes the majority of their sales off of SUV's and trucks. For whatever reason they have always taken a half-ass approach to the Sentra and its paid off in traditional poor sales.

Mazda hit a homerun with the Mazda 3. They were smart by offering a stylish alternative to the bland Civic's and Corollas. Thanks to the 3 they are a big player in the Canadian market.

Their SUV's and trucks are definately not the majority of their sales. Almost double the # of cars as trucks sold in Feb. The Altima is the bread and butter of the company in North America - still competing very well in sales relative to the Accord (it actually outsold the Accord in Feb09).

Exact Sales #'s for nissan, infiniti for Feb 2009, broken down to individual models:
http://www.nissannews.com/assets/attachments/Feb.09.pdf

For comparison, Honda & Acura, Feb 2009: http://corporate.honda.com/press/print_friendly.aspx?id=4957

I hope the Sentra will be phased out in favour of an expansion to the Versa lineup, or they will have to find a way to differentiate them more. Base Sentra's compete directly with the base Versa's - which is absurd on their part.

Take a look at 2008 for my proof and look at the truck drop off. All truck sales are in the tank this year which is why Nissan is laying off thousands because they traditionally make almost half their sales off trucks. Also note that half of Infinity is Truck sales.

Where? I don't see that on their site, is this something a local dealer is offering?

It was all over the net. Q4 of 2008 and Jan and Feb 2009. There were even billboards in Calgary advertising the 1% rate. The incentive is still there, but the interest rate has jumped to 4.9%

There is probably 8-10 M3 cabs left. A few coupes. None with DCT, so I am not getting one.

Not surprising as their financing rate for most cars are in mid 3%. Cash rebate only applied to cash buyers AND MSRP was not adjusted like Toyota's.

How can they beat Toyota's 0.9% and Chrysler's Employee pricing + 0%.

Deserved to get pwned until they can price them better.

Yeah the ratio was definately closer to 50:50 last year than this year for the Nissan lineup. I wonder what the profit margin is for an SUV/Truck vs Car - you'd think if 50% of your lineup is SUV/Truck then the profit will be close to that.

Back on topic, is anyone else looking at the actual units sold for some of the brands?

Saab: 36 (Feb 2009), 59 (Feb 2008)
Jaguar: 35 (Feb 2009), 41 (Feb 2008)

How the hell do they survive :nut: :nut:

Kia had another good year.

Just shows that if you can package performance, elegance and a good price people will buy it.

LX Coupe's MSRP was never 25.5.

I was able to get 06 LX for $23 OTD cash when new. And that's when there were a month or 2 waiting list.

Kinda sad Honda would only go $1200 less than 3 years ago on a 3.5 yr old model.

Can't wait for Kia Forte Coupe to show up to give it some competition.

He is talking about the total cost of an automatic LX coupe with gst.

LX coupe was right around $25K OTD when we almost bought one. Realized the Rabbit was way more bang for the buck and went that way.
But then again it wasn't a cash purchase because leasing was a way better deal then.

But hey, this is probably the biggest purchase of his life.

Si is close to 30K OTD price.

From Honda's website:

auto LX coupe MSRP $22,780 + freight/pdi $1310 + taxes 1330.50 = $25420.50

Seems pretty damn close to 25.5 to me... :dunno:

math:

22700 x tax = 24000 about

msrp= 30000 that incl tax/freight

so im assuming they bought with cash, 3500 from honda for cash purchase, another 1000 loyalty = 4500, 1500 rubdown from dealer which is about 50% of your profit :) decent deal.
