I'd have to second King's diner on Barlow and you can even walk in, skip the line, pay and be out in under 4 minutes.

Kings for wonton soup FTL...

Im sorry to say but that is not wor won ton

ive ate their wor won ton a few times, sure its alright but its not wor won ton.

wor wonton noodles first off has shrimp, and not all those veggies and weak sauce msg broth. Also wonton noodles does not taste like kings noodles, i know what kings uses for noodles and its gross.

Best in calgary i would say either calgary court or sun chiu kee.

hahaha I haven't had King's before, but Sun Chiu Kee and Calgary court is GARBAGE!

very true - the best won ton noodles i had was actually in boston - the won ton's were about 1.5 times the size of golf balls.

you wouldn't want king's its designed for the caucasian people.

it has mushrooms, bbq pork, carrots, brocolli and pure pork won tons.

your suppose to have shrimp in your wontons!!

Ewwww Wonton from Kings on Balow is Nasty!!!

That's the thing. The wonton can vary in taste. Some of the more 'asian' wontons have a flavor that caucasians might not like.

How about the place on centre and around 22nd, across for the Centex gas station?

I work right beside a kings and I have to say it has a very western influence.

I'd give it maybe a 6/10. I go to pebble street often , theres is maybe an 8/10.

I'm very interested to hear the best won ton soup in calgary too so keep them coming.

:werd: I made the mistake of going to the place on 12 st. N.E. and they had that shit already made and ready to go. I ate it within 5 minutes and the noodles were so soggy it was sick.

Don't forget Fat Kee (the strip mall by the old T & T Honda), thought they were pretty good.

kings is not that good..., try cheng ping noodle house at 2197 Pegasus Way NE (turn right where tim horton's is (off mcknight and 19) and then left and it's in the strip on your right hand side). It's only opened during business hrs as it caters to the industrial / office area around there. just a few tables and it's always full of people. I had the won ton, pot stickers and pad thai. Food has always been good.

yeah we went to kings today. It was terrible. Worst I have probably ever had.

of the 20 people in the place 18 of them were Caucasian. We skipped Chicken Cottage to try Kings....I believe that was a huge mistake?

It was one of those things, 4 hungry people. We were the chicken place it was crazy busy, drove away the kids were whining the husband was starving. How do places like that survive.

I hate paying for tea, and bad food.

I actually quite enjoy this place in china town named Gee Gong, me and my colleagues usually go there for lunch 3 times a week...

I really like Gee Gong as well, but I haven't tried the soup yet.

So far, since the Calgary Health Region has posted up their restaurant inspection results, Gee Gong has been inspected 3 times in just over a year and has had absolutely no violations at the time of writing this post.

I kind of like King's wontons but hate the soup. It's too salty and lacks any kind of depth.

They changed their menu since I've been there last, but I found out to skip the "wor wonton without noodles, extra wontons" which used to be my regular order because it was identical to their regular wonton, with bbq pork and vegetables, with the same amount of wontons only $2.50 more expensive.

I guess they must have been called out on it and what a ripoff it was. :dunno:

The war-won ton soup is pretty decent at a place called Billy Burger up in the northeast, it's beside a kawasaki dealership. The place seems kind of sketchy but the food is good.
