That thinks the E92 335 aesthetically looks better than the M3? Everytime I see a 335 on the road, I admire its nice and smooth lines, but when I see a M3, I think it just kind of looks like a robot and the bulges and flares kind of kill the lines of the car. Am I crazy?

Not at all. I agree with you. I think the M3 looks like a 335 with a bad body kit.

hahah M3> 335

If you want an aggressive looking vehicle with clean lines and a mean stance m3 is your choice

I agree the lines on the 335 are nice.. but I could not agree that the m3 looks like a 335 with a bad body kit :thumbsdow

I have the 08 328i cabriolet and I love it's clean lines. I think the coupe looks like crap compared to the cabriolet. However, I would love the performance of the M3.

I agree. I loved the E30 & E36, really liked the E46 but the E92 is a bit awkward, especially in four door (is that an E90 M3?).

In Calgary especially (but even at sea level), the 335i with minor upgrades at least matches the performance of an M3 and is far more understated and elegant, and I think it is a more suitable daily driver because the ride is smoother (even with upgraded suspension that matches the M3s performance).

M3 Sedan > M3 Coupe > 335i IMO

Just saw a black m3 today. maybe its because all the ones youve seen are white.. this one looked pretty aggressive and good in black.

I'm obviously not talking from a performance perspective since the M3 would blow the 335 out of the water, but purely from an aesthetics standpoint I'm just not really loving the M3s lines. I think E36M3 is right on this one, its the elegance and understatedness of the 335 that makes me like it over the M3. The new M3 is too chunky (see: robotic) and "look at me!" imo.

And it isn't just the white ones. I pulled up beside a black one this morning and that's actually when I realized how awkward it looked. Then later in the afternoon, I pulled up beside a 335 on Deerfoot and found it to look so much nicer and wondered how I can not like the M version more then the regular (I've driven neither, so again, this is based on pure aesthetics). Looks wise, I do like the E30M3 more than the regular E30, the E36M3 over the E36, and the E46M3 over the E46, but don't feel the same way about the E92.

We have a 335 Cabriolet and I think the coupe looks WAY nicer. Something awkward about the rear quarter of the car. The lines just dont flow as nicely as the coupe.

I disagree. The M3 looks much better and more aggressive then the 335i. The 335i is just too plain (Just bought one) so i will be doing mtech upgrades to it, so it will look very similar to an M3 soon.

The lines are nice, but left oem it can look a bit.. boring.

I think the M3 looks horrible with the stock wheels but once you change that up the car looks 100x cleaner.

I like the awkwardness of the e92/3 m3 :D

Especially with oversized rims, and a nice drop :poosie:

E93 M3> E92 M3 > E93 335 > E90 M3. I think the seden looks weird with too many edges. E92 335 just looks plain...

Less is more!

The hump in the hood, the fender gill thing, the front bumper, I just like the 335 better. But this 335 isn't stock either, so maybe that's why. I think the 335 would look even cleaner without the fogs.
Or maybe I'm just getting old and aren't into super modded looking cars anymore

Nah, M3 > 335I for the E9X.

For the last generation E46, I did prefer the 330 > M3 and everyone said I was crazy.

The pic that buh_buh posted is not a good comparo IMO because that M3 is sitting on small cheesy 18's with a 4x4 ride height vs a e92 that's slammed on 19's. Of course the other car is going to look better.

Stock vs stock I think the M3 does look better (on 19's) but still could use a drop + 20's to look "great".

I'm a huge fan of the new Cab's. Haven't seen many around but the car looks great because of the huge amount of glass you see on the side profile. I turned my head a full 180 degrees to see one going the other way just to make sure I had seen a 3-series....the car seriously looks wayyy bigger than the hardtop version.

No matter how big?? I'm putting 20x11.5" on the rear, i don't know about those looking small. I have a 325 on the rear, so unilikely that it will look empty :)

Here is a A$$ shot of mine. I have the Dinan Chip put in last summer at BMW Gallery. Will have the 20" wheels going on in couple months. Exhaust upgrade will be next. So watch out you M3 bitches...;) :D

Have you driven either one of them? A Dinan Stage 2 335i out performs an M3 in acceleration even at sea level. In Calgary, it is not even close. With brakes & minor suspension tweaks, they are virtually identical in braking and handling.

In case you doubt it and your bench racing includes watching videos, check this out:

Aesthetically: E46 M3 > E92 M3
Performance: E46 M3 < E92 M3

The turbo 6 would have Gobs more midrange torque with even just minor tuning. In Calgary it wouldn't even be close.

Personally I'm not a BMW fan so you can consider me unbiased - I would rather have the 335I.

the reason the M3 looks good in those pictures is because the dark color and lighting in those pics hides the bad lines I was talking about in the hood hump, the front bumper and side gill. In person, I still prefer the 335 over the M3 looks wise.

I wanted a cab. Wife said "no fucking way. It is so ugly." The way the roof line goes into the trunk is very awkward.

I think the E9X M3 is a little overdone. But then again I am biased... haha

E30 M3 is by far the best. Then E46. I though the E36 M3 looked too much the regular 328.

Nah, just that coupes look more aggressive than their cabrio counterparts IMO....
