Just had it finished being machined by Unlimited Performance this weekend. It is a 383 stroker that is built and machined to have a Weiand 4-71 blower on it. Just waiting for the blower to come in now.

It was freshly painted but now that the paint has cured its flat black and I'm also having the oil pan and timing cover anodized the same colour as the Valve covers... which are actually blood red but the lighting and shitty cell phone pic doesnt do it justice. It's going into my 1946 Chevy rat rod :)

Nice. What cam, compression, boost planned?

black_radiation

7.5:1 for the compression, should run good on 91 octane, I forget what he put in there for a cam but I'll check my little sheet he gave me with all the info. I'm looking for around 7lbs of boost, nothing major, the truck only weights 1600 lbs :P

The picture looks wierd because I took it with my storm but they are actually a very deep red, and I'm still looking into finding someone who can anodize the other pieces. If I can't have them anodized I'll either have them powdercoated as close as I can get to that colour or just do them both in flat black and have the timing cover pinstriped with white/red pinstriping.

haha yeah as a matter of fact the VTEC kicks in around 9800 rpm :P

Thanks for the compliments EK :) I'm gonna have to run slicks and weight down the rear end when I decide to try the 1/4 w/ it lol. I'm still debating whether to do Bias ply white walls or a nice classy set of rims w/ some nice directional tires with some good grip

nah, its a rat rod man, meant to be as rough and uncomfortable as possible lol... but maybe next winter I might look into an air ride setup. I just wanna get it running for this summer and bring it to the meets. I'm sure it will stand out like a sore thumb among the crowd but... thats what i'm looking for lol.

It should make great power. With compression that low (that's about the lowest I've heard of), you should be good for a ton more boost down the road if the rest of the parts can handle the torq.

You might be able to get away with something like this pic (http://farm1.static.flickr.com/120/312202602_2d1f9e60a3.jpg?v=0) but even that's straying a bit too much methinks...

haha yeah I'll probably end up going with some nice tall bias ply's...

had to dip into the rat rod fund a bit tonight... I was out at my shop and thought I might as well install my new exhaust on my 6.7L diesel and well.. definately put my phone on my bumper as I was working and forgot about it.... well I pulled the truck out, did a little test drive and pulled it back in the shop not realizing until I went to call the gf to see what the deal was with dinner. Sure enough it fell off the ass end of my truck at mach 7, sad thing is it was my week old Blackberry Storm *sigh* Good thing I got the premium insurance lol. Cost me 150$ to have it replaced.... and to think I was going to opt out of getting the insurance :D

^Fucking awesome. I'm getting my blown 383 through these guys
http://www.tandlengines.com/
Its going in my '38 Chevy Half ton I have at my dads farm. Not a rat rod per se', but still hella cool. Although the Rat Rod route is SO tempting, its 1/4 the cost of a typical hot rod/resto.

1600 pounds? Fuck that thing is going to haul ass.

haah well I actually calculated it the other day, im thinking more around the 1400-1500lbs range, instead of a 20 gal tank im going with a 12 gallon fuel cell, I cut about 50 lbs of metal off of my box, and I got ultra light racing seats for inside. My rad is also half the size now and its aluminum instead of a conventional retro one, my grill will be fiberglass instead of solid steel (just expanded metal in the center to fill it) my buddies making aluminum sheets for my door panels inside and the rest is pretty bare. should shave off a few lbs :D 2EFNFAST will still prolly kick my ass though... hes about 150 hp over me and only a few hunded pounds heavier... not to meantion 10x more aerodynamic than my brick lol

You know you have design issues when a cobra is considered more aerodynamic.

If I'm like throwing a brick through the air, then you must be like throwing a bathtub! :nut:

Man rule #1 - If you can make it to Banff and back in your car, it definitely needs a larger, louder, more cammed engine ..... real men can only stand to drive their car for 20 or 30minutes before being driven bonkers by it :D

Glad I'm not the only one!

With that low of compression and 7#s of boost you will likely be able to run 87 pump gas. I should be nice and mellow for cruisin' around.

Man rule #2 - there's no such thing as 'nice and mellow', just loud and violently cammed :D

For example

JDscX5RF_-Q

And I'm not using anymore than 1/2 throttle anywhere in the vid.

Which leads to man rule #3 - if you can go full throttle in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd, you need more power. Full throttle should only be able to be used successfully in 4th or 5th gear.

Ear plugs + you havent heard my black truck yet... its about as loud as your cobra and I drive to Edmonton all the time in it, I just got used to it lol

P.s. Alex you need to come out to my shop soon, just about finished making the frame and I might be able to mount the motor, cab, and box next week and it will finally look like a truck lol.
