Forum Navigation Poll

You can navigate the forums/threads lists by clicking the box in the table (red arrow) or by clicking on the actual link in the table (blue arrow). This usability feature was added back in the day but I'm curious what method of navigation is more popular.

I suppose I could add some tracking code to see which area is clicked more often but I thought I'd post up a quick poll to see.

I usually just click in that general area, sometimes it lands on the text, sometimes in the red arrow area :dunno:

I don't really make a conscious effort to go for one or the other.

To be honest, I don't like the cells being links. I think it's just because I'm so used to the space being free to click.

Not only do I use both methods equally, but, I also use the green arrows at the far right a TON....I know it's not a part of the poll...but I wanted to add some feedback...

K, I figured it out. It's because I middle-click to open threads in a new tab but middle-clicking the cell doesn't do anything so I have to click the link.

I believe that would be covered under option #3

You use both (though maybe not equally)

This is exactly my reasoning. If I middle click it just gives me the scroll arrows.

one weird quirk i have noticed with clicking the green arrows (well at lest the words beside them) is that if a new thread has been bumped since the last time the page has refreshed that it will direct you to that thread instead

I often click in the free area to change mouse focus to scroll the page as I can do in most other forums and then inadvertantly find I have clicked a link. -Frustrating.

I always click the link. Sometimes if I am trying to scroll my mouse it will go onto the red arrow portion and take me to somewhere i never intended to go.

Yes, I also click the link, and I dislike the box because I cant middle click it to open in a tab.

I definately like clicking the cell way mroe than the link. When clicking the link, its a lot more moving around of the mouse...I know its not that big of a deal, but its nicer to not have to do it.

Please change it back!

Clicking the link hones my point and click skills, for those challenging games, where you have to squish the spider, shoot the zombie, etc. etc. I always seem to lose those, because whenever I'm close and think I got it, a huge ad pops up on me, and I'm diverted to another site :dunno:

Ya, but the pages load way faster on the iPhone now because there's a lot less code on the page to handle the cell clicking...
