So, 8am then? Would Stockish vehicles be ok on this run?

Yes 8am at A&W!

Your Pathy will be fine Vic or did you have other vehicles in mind too?
Even stock should be fine though.

Yes CB's are good Chris. If anyone needs to borrow a CB antenna let me know. I have 2 spare magnet mounts. I am willing to sell them too if anyone is interested.

Good to hear - I've got a stock Exploder (1st gen) that I'm hoping to bring out.

Any idea on the expected length of the run (hours)? I have other commitments later in the aft.

You're looking at most of the day, in the event that you may get stuck, or something mechanical you may be out there longer.

CTire has them for $25 a pop. I'm sure Autozone or Princess Auto will have them for a good price. I wouldn't waste my money on the stupidly expensive Mopar ones.

That's another thing I need done before Sunday if I come out... on top of clutch fluid checks and if possible tranny oil...

Might just hold out for a less muddy day and take some time to get the last few things done on the beastie.

Just go get the trailor hitch tow hook. That's what I have on the rear of my xj. But I got a Winch on the front so I denno about tow hooks. You can always hook the tow strap around your front bumper mount if you get stuck. If I had time I would come give you a hand. Maybe lift it more with the spare parts I got. Haha just finished a 12 inch lift and new 38s but no time to help out. If you wait till after the weekend I can give you a hand

yea anything more than a 2" lift and you need to throw down some serious money on a ZJ. Just doing the 2" to clear some 32" tires, if it still rubs, will start cutting away at the fenders first...

Hit a junk yard... You can buy a set of hooks from Princess auto for like $10... but there will be no where to mount them on your body.

You need the brackets too. Took me a couple visits to find a set... but it's a helluva lot better than spending almost $200 for new ones. PNP charges like $5/side I believe.

The beauty of having a full frame I suppose. Bolt right into the frame and call it a day.

You said you were going to come if you were allowed to. You were in fact NOT allowed to go but went anyways! *Fist Bump* LOL

Today was a great run, it turned fun near the end with the river crossings and the big hill. To top it off, I am sure ALL of us were waiting for the mud to thaw out to sling mud to cap off the day.

Looking forward for the pictures.

I think you'll be fine out there. Wheel within your limits and your're good to go. Is your's a double cab long box? Many folks who went yesterday had open diffs.

I think you would have a good time

the white cherokee only has a 2" spacer and 31's

your stock 06 would have the same clearance

I have open diffs and I believe I was the only one who didn't get stuck :D

and it was too bad for the most capable rig there, had to leave due to rad fan,.. at least my mcgyver job got him home.

he had locked front and arb rear, could climb just about anything

I would have loved to see him in a little more action. Im looking forward to wheeling with him in Mclean.

When it comes to getting stuck, Theres a fine line between just being stupid and challanging yourself. I got stuck a couple times, but it was because I tried. Sometimes you just cant do it, or just dont make it.

Put some light cooking oil in a spray bottle and give your inner fenders and whatnot a good coating before you head offroad next time. Makes the mud much easier to wash off the next day.
Looks like you guys had fun. I miss my Jeep...

Yeah it is a DC long bed. Do you think that would make a difference? I noticed that most of what you guys wheel are short-wheelbased SUV's, I just don't think my wife would let me run with her 4Runner:D .

You'll be fine for the most part. Your breakover angle will be less because you're a longer wheelbase.

If you're finicky about scratches then I would think twice about taking it out to Mclean. However, Waiparous has less schrubs that stick out onto the trails.

Anyone got action shots of the Pathfinder?

I won't be going out for the remainder of this month. I have been neglecting attention to my summer car which I need to get working on if I want to drive it soon.

Thanks! I've had all sorts of adventures with that thing. Im looking forward to many years behind the wheel.

It needs better gearing and some protection upgrades. Its the best rig I've owned, just.....really expensive to maintain sometimes. They are great once you fix all the initial reliability problems.

People often ask me what I would have bought instead of a LR. I always say Toyota, only because its reliable.

I enjoy technical trails, but not rock crawling necessarily. Wider muddy trails are not all that entertaining to me, though snowy trails are something I'd like to try. Sadly, the truck just wasn't ready for the March 1 run.

I'm also a big fan of navigating through not-so-difficult to semi-difficult trails with little concern for branches scraping the paint etc. in search of hard to find sights.

That was pretty awesome. I would be deeply concerned about water being sucked into the intake at that depth.

Alak
03-20-2009, 11:14 PM
Land Rover thought of everything when they placed the airbox in the engine bay, and it only sucks air in from between the inner and outer fenders. It gives you that extra bit of depth and time to maintain the title wave.

I did at one point suck up a bit of mud in that hole that day (that was like the 3rd run).

The filter stopped all but some stray particles and my MAS Airflow Sensor needed replacement. It wasnt a big deal, but a snorkel is definately on the list this year.
