It all began on a warms summers night in 1999, I took delivery of my 1991 Toyota mr2 turbo with 49K original kms, purchase from the first owner, completely stock. Shortly there after I picked up some rims, had the side mouldings painted, got jdm clear corners and solid side markers. Oh yah... I was the boss!

Earliest known picture of the car.
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/Redlyne/IMG_0044.jpg

The following summer the s2000 was was released which meant I had to up my game for the street races. I purchased some tein springs, tokico struts, BOV, Tom's side with Bomex front, hks exhaust and a boost controller.

Many will remember this trailer trash pic.
http://members.shaw.ca/jdho/mycar2.jpg

Over the winter I built up the engine and the transmission however a disastrous incident on May 26th 2001 brought the mr2's street racing days to a hault and thus began a 6 year restoration project. Over the 6 years all bushings were replaced with urethane ones, all control arms were removed, cleaned and powder coated, and I had the chassis re-enforced to make it stiffer.

In the winter of 2006/2007 the car was brought up to Calgary and was given to Dan and Dave at Screamin' paintworks. It was totally taken apart and the shell was painted in BMW Imola red.
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/Redlyne/DCP01521.jpg
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/Redlyne/DCP01526.jpg

While at Screamin I had as many body parts replace with carbon fiber, this included the hood, headlight covers, trunk, spoiler, and windshield cowl. New weather stripping along with all new oem toyota fittings were installed. A brand new oem windshield was also put in. An authentic Greddy Gracer bodykit along with Bomex power type 1 mirros were also installed. MR2 fans will also notice the 94+ 1 piece spoiler conversion.

Spring of 2007 I installed a massive collection of performance parts that I had accumulated over the 6 year period, everything from coilovers, to roll cage, to sway bars and random braces, to rims, to brakes, engine parts and turbo kit.
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/Redlyne/RYANBRAKE.jpg

Many of the items I installed myself with the help of a good buddy, the rest was sent up to Project Omega in Edmonton for final installation.
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/Redlyne/000_0312.jpg
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/Redlyne/000_0310.jpg

I received the car back just in time for summer in 07
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/Redlyne/000_0352.jpg

Having chosen inproper offsets and widths for my te37s I sold those and bought a set of rare Advan RG1s.
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/Redlyne/000_0445.jpg

The car then attended it's first ever Beyond cruise, as you may have noticed the carbon front diffuser is missing in this pic. Shortly before the cruise I hit a huge pothole totally destroying the lip and carbon diffuser, this pic shows the brand new lip however the diffusers would take several months to arrive from Japan.
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/Redlyne/DSC02848.jpg

The car was given a new plate.
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/Redlyne/SP_A0227.jpg
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/Redlyne/IMG_0054.jpg

Having driven the car fairly hard in the summer of 07 and making the stupid mistake of running to much boost with not enough fuel I blew the original gen2 3sgte. A gen3 3sgte was purchased from Speedtech and the car was once again brought up to Project Omega in Edmonton where the swap would be completed.
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/Redlyne/IMG00109.jpg

More engine work was done to the car over the winter of 2007/2008, I was so happy with the update gen3 engine and the turbo kit, the car was now reliable and fast.
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/Redlyne/IMG_0197.jpg

The car would go on to win Best Toyota at DTP2008 and get it's first photoshoot with Mbolt.
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/Redlyne/2618928950_9787e800ff.jpg

As the summer of 2008 progressed I finished off most of the interior as well as the stereo which I had moved into the glovebox to make room for my boost controller, turbo timer and powerfc, notice the racepak digital dash as well.
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/Redlyne/IMG_0192.jpg
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/Redlyne/IMG_0005.jpg

As the summer of 08 neared to an end I considered the car pretty much complete.
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/Redlyne/IMG_0204.jpg
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/Redlyne/DSC00047-1.jpg

Little did I know the modbug would bite me again in the winter of 08/09.......

As summer 09 approaches I have begun to install some of the new parts for the car.
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/Redlyne/IMG_0023.jpg

After waiting 2 long months my carbon engine access panels finally arrived, they will of course be painted to match the rest of the car. I now have 7 carbon body parts on the vehicle.
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/Redlyne/IMG_0027.jpg

The interior has pretty much remained the same, I think I'm going to get a takata harness for the passenger side as well.
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/Redlyne/IMG_0029.jpg

Speedtech racing managed to find me a set of these just recently, thanks guys!

Comparing the old project mu 97 oem calipers and rotors to the new setup
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/Redlyne/IMG_0036-1.jpg

Just a random shot of the Frunk, time for a new battery, the little racing one I had didnt last long. Peep the carbon JIC strut bar and madpsi carbon windshield cowl.
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/Redlyne/IMG_0042-1.jpg

Shot of the painted carbon hood with top secret hood pins. (new headlight covers and hood on order to cure the fitment issues the car had)
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/Redlyne/IMG_0048.jpg

Thanks to 962 kid the brake installation went down flawlessly. As some of you might notice I also have new coilovers for the car. Apexi circuit N1 coilovers with fully adjustable camber plates and pillowball mounts.. cant wait!
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/Redlyne/IMG_0052-1.jpg
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/Redlyne/IMG_0053-1.jpg

Being the car loser that I am I spent months reading about offsets, widths etc on mr2s and other cars. I ordered these rims from Speedtech and about 1/2 year later they arrived. Check out the flusshhhhhhh
http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e306/Redlyne/IMG_0057.jpg

The most recent pic of the car... sorry rim type will stay a secret until the summer of 09 so stay tuned!!

Ha Ha Ryan and his never ending search for perfection. Major props for keeping your interest in the same car for so long as it takes patience and dedication. The MR2 was truly one of the gems of the early 90's Japanese sport compact craze as even now driving around I get lots of looks and questions of what it is. I only wish I got mine pre-childeren lol.:(

Definitely a true enthusiast. The sourcing of rare parts and performing most of his own installs. The patience, dedication, time and money involved. Anyone can appreciate the amount of hard work involved in a build like that.

Hey thanks for all the props guys... I think whats especially neat about the build is that many beyonders have helped out along the way. Will, JKL, Pat and shadowz formerly of STRD took care of ordering the parts. Phuqu, Spoolin, 962kid, Porsche, heavyD, mr2mike, EK 2.0, option-import, dr. lightspeed and many others have helped work on the car over the years. The original ABcars built engine blew up and is sitting in mr2mikes yard lol.

The car was supposed to see some track days last year but Im having issues getting the digital dash calibrated and I was having some turbo issues. i think I'll have it all dialed in this year so we should be ready to go.

I dont have any night shots since Im terrible at night pics but here is the dash turned on.

Ya, It's stripped to the block, need to throw it more into the trees. Not really worth a rebuild.

So I'm thinking 1/4 mile race... depending on your turbo, I might negotiate WI on/off a la "Pinks" style. haha

Also would you plan on parting your headlight covers when your new ones come in? My right front has a decent sized crack on it so i will have to get a new one at some point. Pm me about this when you have a chance.

And the carbon engine access panels are sick on your car too!

Thanks for the props guys.. wicked of you all.. Anyways.. i put the steel headlight covers back on thinking that might remedy the fitment issues, well it didnt. A friend of mine had 2 cf mr2 hoods in stock, tried them both, neither had the fitment I was looking for so I have a Seibon hood on order we'll see what happens. These cf hoods are going to drive me to drink!

Well after 5 years of searching I finally landed one of these, only a few of these pieces were ever made, this should help clean up the engine bay, for those not in the know its a cf shroud for my fans under the engine lid.

Thanks Ben,
Yah seats and rails are super low, allows my head to clear the cage with a helmet on and keeps the weight of the passengers lower to the ground. Lower center of gravity=better handling.

Anyways... test fitted the ats heatshield, did some wire tucking, replaced all the hardware and gaskets on the turbo kit. Thanks 962 kid and Porsche.

what did it run at Racecity? I'm guessing you didn't have a transponder but hoping your racepak dash can tell you? :)

Havent 1/4miled the car in forever, not a huge fan of the secret street scene, this was a track day. :)

Anyways sending the VC off to have recoated, was starting to chip, also bought a new turbo. Basically the same turbo but not 100 years old which means it has a little bit of a different design.

I truly hate pulling the turbo on this car but stubby wrenches make it 1000 times easier

A picture of things to come, I'll post this before picture. This will be the winter project. It's a gen 3 longblock that will more than likely end up getting stroked.

oh hehe ok .. yah havent timed my laps yet, not sure if I'll ever get a chance with the track closing this year. Put it this way, the car is much faster than the ability of the person driving it lol. This new turbo won't help much either.

VC color is undecided.. ideas? No prof pics yet man but I'll let u know when i have some taken this year.
