My dad's computer had some virus or something and now the HD won't boot... tried formatting it, reinstalling XP, but it's dead. so i'm gonna just buy him a new one.

I'm not a computer guru, and was hoping ppl here can help build my father a computer. He doesn't do any gaming, just surf the web, accounting software, microsoft office, etc.

I want...
pentium processor
mobo
hard drive
video card

hope you guys can help!
TIA!:D

hoping to keep close to $500

Pick up some parts from MEMex, I got a ASUS mobo, dual core AMD processor, 2 gig ram, 160 gb HDD and PS for~320. The mobo has a sound card, video card and 6 usb ports built in, also has DVI output

Consider just dropping in a new HDD? Why not just grab a used pc, sounds like anything made in the past 3 years can easily do the tasks you mentioned in short time with a nice fresh install of windows.
