May I ask why 94-00? It's just a strange over lap between Gen I and II, but fully covers neither generation.

I'd highly recommend the 96+ Viper... you know, having windows and all is nice ;) and the extra 50hp is noticeable.

Good luck finding a car SRT10. I know Automaxx on 16th Ave had a Viper sitting on their lot...

Are you getting a coupe or a 'vert?

I can check my wholesale dealer auctions in the States for you..
Feel free to PM me..

I was just at the highline sale in Toronto yesterday and there was some pretty good deals on Viper's already in Canada...

I thought Vipers could not be imported. Probably just due to the (now combined) bumper laws...

The 93-96 Roadster is still inadmissable...
The 96 Coupe with dual airbags can be brought in, as well as any 1997+

Aren't the bumper laws gone, Evos can be imported since Sept 2008 and I saw a few Pontiac GTO's

94-00 .... that range makes no sense for the generational years.

Me thinks the OP is just trying to front being a big dawg by talking about Vipers :dunno:

I was at the Highline Manheim sale in Milton on the 25th and it was insane, some good prices going for some exotics to luxury cars, period

EVO's yes, I don't think the Pontiac GTOs are though, the new G8 looks kinda similar though? I could be wrong.

to the op: If you're serious about importing one, why don't you look on American car classifieds like www.autotrader.com and find one, fly down and drive it up?

With the way the American economy is going, it won't be long until we've closed the gap with their dollar. Printing a trillion dollars without the gold reserves to back it up usually leads to one thing...

I've looked at american autotrader, the prices there are higher than on ebay and the viper owners on the forum told me to keep looking

What are you realistically looking to pay for a Viper?

Pre 96 cars are brutal cars. 96-2000 are much better, RT/10's have issues with water and their shitty tops. GTS's are the best in those years with their solid tops. 2001-2002 are identical with the addition of ABS. 2003-2005 cars are way better. 2004 cars have issues with their oil pan designs and will take out the main bearings when driven hard....seen it and fixed it many times. I think in 04 they swapped to normal "CV" joints in the rear drive shafts. Prior years had open "U" joint style. 2006 brought back the hardtop coupe option. 2007 was not available for anything. 2008 brought some fairly large improvements and a more resonable price tag vs the prior years.

Don't forget to add that the post '99 cars all come with cast pistons as opposed to the eariler models forged items. This is a big cost savings for those looking to go forced induction.

One of the main reasons my GTS is a '97.....fully forged internals.

There is a nice Viper GTS in Saskatoon for $40,000.00 on Autotrader, it's got almost 90,000kms though. With import fees and dollar conversion that's probably one of the cheaper ones you'll find.

Hopefully that 30k budget was in USD and you have another 10k CAD sitting away for taxes and the import process. I've been "dreaming" for a while, a decent second generation would cost ~45-50k to your door. I've seen a couple high milage ones in the 25-28k range (USD), at a 0.80:1 exchange you are still going to be in low 40's all said and done.

The fact that you are looking for the cheapest one, tells me that you can't afford it. Add to this that you are trying to purchase an enthusiast vehicle at auction which would lead to limited vehicle history and little to no communication with the previous owner, leads me to believe you have no idea about acquiring an older high performance vehicle.

I know the out of country inspection can be expensive, my buddy's s type r jag came to 8k after everything was done.

Exchange rate should level out towards mid summer, not looking to buy right away.

I can't afford newer vipers, nor would I buy one even If I could afford it.

I have a friend who bought a audi TT and a Z4 at an auction for a price you would not believe and they turned out to be great.

Funny how everything leads you to believe...... I've owned 4 older than a viper high performance vehicles

What I can afford and not & if I know anything about older high performance vehicles is my problem, why are you so concerned about this ? Do you make decisions for me?
