So I will be going to look at a 93 turbo and I was just wondering if you guys could let me know of the important things to look out for with these cars? A new turbo engine was just installed in it if that makes any difference. Other then the regular things to check for when looking at cars is there anything specific to look for? Any shops you guys prefer to get it checked out at, or any toyota dealership will do?

take it to your mechanic, simple as that. If you don't have one, then just take it to any toyota dealership.

Generally, if the car is local, someone here knows it's history.

Obviously, I'd want to compression test (easy to do on an mr2), check for smooth spool up (any hesitation or studdering can be a knock response)

who installed the new engine, was it a n/a to a turbo? The vin will tell you that.

I would definitely be checking on past mods and current mods. If you don't know how it all goes together, when someone mods it and it has an issue, it's even harder to track back.

edit: there's a few guys on here that know this car inside and out if you're nice or buy them a case of beer, I'm sure they'd go see the car with you.

Well I took a look at the car today and everything seems to be in good working order, Turbo spooled up smoothly, sounded good at idle, but again I am no pro, especialy when it comes to Turbo engines so I will be taking it to a shop If anyone else would like to chime in that would be great, other wise Ill let you guys know how it goes.

Just out of curiosity, why do you have the TRD motormounts and the kirkosaurus motormount inserts?
Engine must not torque at all.

If you do buy it, I would drive it how it is for awhile. Then work towards swapping in the bigger trim turbo.

As well, if it's still sporting the n/a brakes. I have a set of 91 turbo brakes I can sell you. A little bigger than n/a. Just a swap in.
