type s with ihe only 150.7hp HELP!!!!!!!
i decided to get a dyno run this morning and this is seriously wierd. at 5 grand i level off at 100hp and vtec hits at 5800 it shoots up to 150 in about 300 rpm. this graph looks retarded. ill have to get it up soon. the shop i took it to says that somethings causing the timing to retard at 100 hp and
btw i have a short ram race header and a str8 pipe so i should be looking way over 150. any ideas what i should do or whats going on?
thanks for everything...or anything really

I'm not surprised the stealership missed it. When I traded in my mustang it had numerous mods.

transgo shift kit set on the hardest setting - even if you just babied the throttle, when it shifted it would BANG into gear so bloody harshly you'd swear the tranny was tearing apart

had 4.10 gearing and never bothered to adjust the speedo/odo (so it showed ~20% faster than it should have)

And the stealership never even asked about it. several weeks later I went back and test drove my car since they had it on the lot for sale still, and I asked the salesperson

Q: Gee, this tranny seems to shift kind of hard. Is it on its way out?

A: No, all mustangs shift like that.

Q: Wow, we're moving pretty quickly (140kph on deerfoot) yet everybody is keeping pace. People must be in a real hurry today. (keep in mind the speedo reads 20% faster than it should be, so we're only doing like 110!)

A: Yep; this is a REALLY quick mustang.

That dyno sheet looks really fucked.

Vtec engagement is NOT responsible for that much of a jump.

What the hell.

"A3 ecu, A3 head, A2 intake mani, 6spd trans"

Sounds like when he swapped the engine he just threw in a bunch of crap stuff in there that's mis-matched.

I didnt think a k24a intake mani, or head fit on a k20a block. Hmm. Besides that, the ecu would run it, but really rich dont you think?

Look at that fuel curve, it leans HARD at vtec engagement, and is still really lean under vtec, which is exactly opposite to what it is meant to do.

Very odd. Very.

I remember that Modified (or was it Sport Compact Car?) had a story where they were going to buy a salvage/theft Integra from a used car dealership at auction and restore it - they had bought the upmarket version (LS?) and it turned out to be an upmarket body with the shittiest base-model Integra engine possible swapped into it by the dealership.

It surprised me that they went to that much effort. My guess was actually that the stealership got the car in its "chopped" form after the theft and they had to find an engine to sell it with, so...

I find it fishy because even if the head, and the mani and the ecu did run/bolt up, those parts would be total more expensive then a whole motor set, considering the price of the 6 speed tranny.

I would believe that car HAD a k24a in it, and it WAS a type-s, but then the motor was blown up, and so the dealership swaped in a base motor, and left the ecu/tranny in it.

Either way thats really shitty.

Thats funny, its like taking a camaro engine and putting it in a corvette, most people wouldnt even know the difference.

scary, this could happen to many cars. so many different motors for the same vehicles.

Imagine 3rd gear VTEC in this thing....

This is why you always buy a car with someone who knows what to look at.

So the OP is stuck with this "type S" even though he bought it from a dealership? That doesn't seem right at all. If I bought a type s from a dealership and I find out afterwards that it has a base engine in it I would expect to get some compensation or be able to return it for a refund.

Am I missing something?

Poor kid

on a side note,.. doesn't look like it's running lean

stoich = 14.7

14 is ok - still safe

but 10 is rather rich for an n/a application I would think

but once again,.. poor kid

can't the dealership go after the origional owner? for misrepresentation?
