What kind of lighting is required to get a effect like this? The only lighting I have is a stock XTi flash and a Speedlight EX

Please let me know if you guys know. I have the following stuff:
Canon XTi
17-85 IS f4.6-5.8?
50mm 1.8
70-200 f4.0
Speedlight EX
Thanks for any input!

the second one would appear to be mostly post processed. I would say at one point there was at least three flash heads in that picture. you can see the dark sections in the middle of the illuminated side.

First is a combination of normal headlight lighting + burning to darken the top section.

The second one was a long exposure (3.2s) and from the uneven lighting and light spill around the car, I'd guess it was done by lightpainting. EXIF tells me no flash was used, which supports that theory.

Werd, the second one is definitely light painting, the way the image is processed gives me that indication.

Second could be light painting... or 3 flashes used.

If the EXIF shows flash wasn't used, that doesn't mean flash wasn't used...

If I am shooting with PW's it'll say no flash still.

But as already stated, I think it's light painting.

They could've just set the long exposure, walked around the car and triggered the flash a couple of times and that was the result, I've done that a lot before I had multiple flashes.

sorry to be a douche, but how did you get the exif off those pics?
