View Full Version : Replacing laptop power supply
Laptop power supply is dead, outputs 0V.
If I find a similar (19V, 3.43 A output) power supply would there be any problem just cutting off the plug and soldering my existing plug on?
Also, would it be OK to use a 20V 3.4A supply instead of a 19V 3.4A supply? Just found one of those for sale.

Should be no issue whatsoever as far as soldering on your plug, and Im going to say that the power supply you found will work, so much so that if I was in a bind I would use it, however, im not 100% sure.

I'm no electrical engineer, but that one extra volt may damage your board over time eventhough it might seem to run fine with it. I would be more inclined to buy one that was slightly lower rather then higher.
What's the make model of the laptop?
