From the front end, it looks like a downs syndrome child. Kinda dopey-eyed. I'm sorry but headlights make and break the vehicle for me.

i think it was a good move for Ford to change the look to this.. it's got a nostalgic aspect and will hit it well with the older crowd whereas the "new-ness" is also refreshing and appealing to the younger and middle-age crowd.

i love the look

As an honest mostly domestic hater, I for one would definately consider that car. I don't like the current gen stangs(even if they have 400hp). But that new model - and the Ford GT - I mean, damn they're doing it right. Eleanors slightly ugly cousin. :bigpimp:

I like it, although given the choice between a 1968 and a 2005 i would get the 1968. But still, sweet look for the mustangs.

Nicest looking mustand of the past 30 years for sure, no idea if it's a good car but I kinda like the looks. Actually reminds me a bit of an Aston Martin as well, it's a huge improvement over the last model.

I hope it will be a better car than it is right now.

Edit - The convertable looks like ass.

The 05 Cobra will have the same motor as the GT-40 with 500HP. For under $60,000.00 Tell me what other "production" car you can get for that price with that much HP?

So this is just a GT with 400HP? I wasn't sure, I just assumed cobra cause of the boost gauge on interior. I just quoted all my stuff from www.stangnet.com.

Got a good link to anymore 2005 mustang stuff?

You would be so far ahead in the Cobra that you could give up a few seconds in the corners ;)

You'd better have a hell of a lot more than a couple of seconds:devil: Sure, it will likely have 100hp more than the Z06, but it still won't come close to touching one in the corners. One of these days ford needs to figure out that you can't compete with a car that can fit 315s in the front and 335s in the rear by putting 245s on the front and 275s on the rear of your car that is the closest competitor ;) Honestly, its a nice looking car but if ford thinks that can compete with the corvette (and at $60k for one thats exactly who most of their competition is going to come from) they are in for a BIG shock unless it can drop about 800lbs compared to the current generation, have a much more rigid chassis and improve the sucktacular stock suspension.

Don't get me wrong, its not that I don't like the car. I love the styling of it, but it doesn't sound like (at this point, based on relatively limited information that ford is going to be creating the kind of machine the new mustang deserves to be. They beefed the brakes up even compared to the current cobras which stop well for their heft, but the suspension is looking to be more of the same. Good but not great. If they really want to appeal to the mustangs heritage, they should do more to get the car handling the way it should. There's still time until the cars come out so who knows, ford might just redeem themselves between now and then. There's a lot of missing information that might just be the missing pieces of the new mustang puzzle.

They arent trying to compete with the corvette, they stopped trying todo that when they orginaly came out with mustang and dicontinued the cobra late 60's.

Funny, the '04 cobras got a supercharger and bumped to 390hp in an effort to catch the Z06. Like it or not, a $60k mustang is competing with the corvette, regardless of whether that is the intent or not.

Well Corvette is Chevy's flagship sportscar. So to compare apples to apples the GT40 is Fords flagship sportscar. With that said, the GT40 would lay the smackdown on the Z06 in every department.

Yep, the car is a no-options 89 coupe, and is in the process of being stripped down and modified for road race and or solo2/solo1 duty. I actually bought it off Deuce_Coupe on your site back in march ;) I don't have any recent pics, but if you go into the members rides section there are some photos of it there in bone stock form. I need to get off my ass and take some new photos, maybe I'll pull it out from under the car cover on the weekend and get some new ones. You can see some pics of the car in the threads from the various lapping days this year as well. I'm a member on your site, but I'm on there maybe once a month or so tops. Too many BBS's with too much great information to keep up with. if you want more information mods and that, drop me a PM and I can supply some new photos and info.

And yes, the GT40 will kick seven shades of crap out of the Z06 :D For 150k a pop it had better ;)

Probably the best idea anyone has had yet, the prototypes always look a whole lot better. One in particular was the RSX, still a great looking car but I remember when I saw the first one ever with 19 inch chrome it was super hot.

cts-v will have 400 horsepower

No cobras till the 2006 models from my understanding, so the mustangs wont have 400 hp either for a couple years.

Gto has 350hp at 35grand. that will be comparable to the new stangs coming out. Mayby not in styling but power.
