Power comes from VW's tried and true turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four producing 210 horsepower and 206 lb-ft torque mated to either a six-speed manual or DSG. Both two- and four-door variants will be available When the GTI arrives in dealerships later this summer.

gti hands down... in the looks department (interior and exterior), the mazda does not even compare a tiny bit. the new front looks like a smiling bird or shark, or something... and the rear 1/4 reminds me of a toyota matrix...fuck its ugly :barf:

Tough call. On one hand, the 3 is faster and probably more fun to drive. On the other hand, the nose truly is fugly, the interior isn't nearly as solid looking, and resale will indeed hurt.

I'd probably pick the GTI. If it were not for that fugly nose, it would be REALLY hard to pick...

i dont get why people are saying mazda has a bad resale value compared to vw.

vw is just as bad if not worse. styling definately gti, but i hated how it drove so mazdaspeed 3 for me. not digging the new style prefer old style

GTI peak TQ is at 1800 rpm and it's flat to 5000.

Drove both cars and it wasn't even close for me. GTI was a far better car overall. With the redesign of both it just makes the mazda look even worse.

VW R20 is now rumoured to have 300hp but I doubt we'll ever see it in Canada.
