Is Insurance foolish on these compared to say a 540i? Also are they much higher maintenance?

Sick m5 i love the e39.

as to ur question anything BMW is expensive to maintain especially the 5 series.

for example. 540i/m5 alternators are liquid cooled and the part alone is 1000 bucks. and labor is 2 hours book time. and most BMW shops are at 135 hr. so there

and for insurance a 540i is a luxury car a m5 is a luxury super car of its time and still is today.

any ways killer deal here and in red even more rare.

Hahaha true. As for maintenance, I recommend having a friend who works in a shop (that's what I have) who would do all of your services for dirt cheap. As for parts, nothing has broken down on this car yet, however I could imagine the parts for an m5 being rather expensive.

One would take the car to a secondary repair shop and not to a BMW dealer. I used to use a repair shop that had a BMW certified mechanic, he worked at a dealer for years and then opened his own shop. His labour rates were at least 30% less than at the dealer, and his parts were 40% to 60% less than at the dealer. As well, I always felt he gave me better service and value.

As for the parts, the one grand alternator is BS, did a Google search in three seconds and a Bosch original replacement is $300-500 US, so really add the exchange and it is well under $725CDN.

These cars are built to a very high standard.

Nice car, really needs a cleaning and waxing though.

Sorry guys these are the most recent pics I could come up with. Personally though I've never had any problems with German cars, as long as you do regular maintenance such as oil, seals, etc. they'll run without problem into 200's.

I'm guessing beyond is not a best place to unload an M5, there's far much more interest in Hondas. Throw me some reasonable offers, lowest one is 25G.

From BMW, sure they will charge the highest prices, but who in their right mind buys through BMW for an older BMW? You'd have to be really rich or really stupid, never met someone who was both. Older BMWs are best serviced at a secondary shop not at the dealer. Google any part, original or not, always cheaper than at a BMW dealer.
