Actually last year at the end of the season I ran a few passes on snow tires to see how the times would be affected and they really weren't all that much.

Race City will NOT be running water in the waterbox, and they will NOT be prepping the track, for the entire length of the season.

What did I hear? I heard

"Secret Streeters don't need all that stuff", straight from their mouth.

Unless you're running drag radials or slicks water box only makes you slower. On street tires you should always go around the water box.

I am pretty sure they won't run Auto X man it will only be drags but you can try calling Art I think they have his number on the site.

If you check the CDRA website, it appears that they do want to run the waterboxes, if they can find volunteers to man this and other jobs:

The CDRA is looking for helpers for their event which was scheduled for Sat & Sunday, not for Friday night. As far as I know, there is no staff at all booked for Friday night & the timing system will not be tested or fully setup till this Sunday. I seriously doubt anything is going to be happening this Friday night.

Well, there goes any chance I'll go this year. Thought I'd go a few times to still support but, nope, looks like I'll be making the trek down to the hat.

But I do agree that 95% of the people go there don't need it.

I spoke with Alan today and all the timing lights are now in and functional. I didn't ask him about the water boxes.

Yup, all the timing system was checked & double checked on Sunday, they got the PA system working as well as the FM radio transmitter. A bunch of people busted their ass to do all the repairs & they deserve a big thank you.

Now the only other issue is staff, there is noone to run this equipment(and all the other required crew) for Fridays. The CDRA has people to run their own events but as of Sunday, not one of the regular volunteers have been contacted at all this year about helping.

I have no idea who is going to be running the Fridays but I hope it happens.

The offical word from Race City is:

Secret Street is on for tomorrow!!
Gates at 6pm, hopefully on the track by 7pm & racing till we quit.
The water boxes will be used & we'll be hand spraying the track to 90ft with VHT!

We do need some help so if you want to get your hand dirty in the water box or maybe staging, come down to the start line about 6pm & find either Darrin or me(Greg).

Weather looks good for far. Someone should start a fund to hand spray the auto-x with VHT. :D
