Hey guys,

This post is not to start a flame war, but to simply find out from enthusiasts out there if you would trade in a DC2 ITR for the DC5 ITR.
Reason I ask is I have the opportunity to purchase a REAL JDM DC5 ITR (Yes it is right hand drive).
It has all of the stock components (brembo's, Recaro's, k20-R, etc) so my need to do anything to it would be minimal (unlike what I have already done to my DC2 ITR)

Do you think it is worth it in your minds eye if you were in my position?

My mods include:
Apex'i Dunk Cat back exhaust
Mugen Pedal kit
Ingen CAI
KG/MM lowering springs
UKDM Taillights
NGK Power Cables
Full Stereo
JDM Front End
Autometer Guages
Gauge Bezel
Recaro SRD racing seats
Autometer Shift Light
Hytech 4-1 Header
Skunk2 OBD II - I Harness
Chipped P28 ECU

That's a really hard choice dude IMO. I don't really like the overweight look of the DC5 nearly as much as I like the look of the DC2 w/ the JDM headlights. But you would have a newer car and having RHD genuine JDM ITR would be quite a novelty. Have you driven the DC5? or even an RSX for that matter? Maybe that would help you decide more. But i don't know, that would be a very tough decision for me as well.
We should all be so unlucky:D

question is will you be able to insure it over here?

if you are i would trade..but then again i like the rsx more than the integra..not to mention you'll probably get more attention since its RHD and all for them JDM lovers

DC5-r beats the crap out of the DC2-r in every possible way...track, straight line...just newer technology. The engine itself has way more potential regardless of the brakes, 6 speed tranny, and all the other cool toys the DC5-r comes with.

BTW, I would hate you if you got it.

just get the dc5-r...i wanna see it!

What I need to do is weight the pros vs. cons.
Granted the DC5 is newer technology, but the DC2 is a classic.
I have poured my heart and soul into that car and just want to make sure I am getting something of equivalence.
I've never driven a DC5 so I have no comparison.

I have a feeling I'm going to miss that 5700 rpm kick!
:dunno:

you'll just have a 5800 rpm kick...drive my car today if you want, I have it downtown...come and get it dude!

for surez

RHD dc5 would make you :bigpimp:

Your teg is nice.....but having the only RHD dc5 in Calgary (possibly in Canada??) would make your car one of a kind

I do however like the looks of a dc2 with a jdm conversion better than the dc5-r

Before you go through with it, you might want to check up on how to register and insure the DC-5. I'm guessing that the VIN's are probably switched, but you have to wonder what would happen if you ever got into an accident.......

DOOOOOOOO IIIIIIIIIT!!!:D

That would be the worst trade to pass up. I don't know you or your car personally, but, you seem to have done alot to your ride, but holy shit man. RHD dc5?. How could you pass that up. Maybe it won't have the same feel as you car now, but, it wouldn't take much to make it MORE :bigpimp: than it already is... And if there aren't any problems insuring and getting it here... F*ck.. Do it man. I wish I had that choice... :(

i would say go with it. as syeve says, the dc5 outperforms in every way, and u have a really kickass engine to mod.

Hey those wheels are pimp! They look very familiar. Those are the Wetsport Wheels that's where my CP-10's oririnated from. Hey Nate it would be pimp if you had a RHD DC-5R, but when I beat you on the track don't be mad. HEHEHEHE. J/K I really don't know what i would do if i was in your position. Just give me a call and we will discuss this matter.

Damn your right. In that full exterior shot, the interior is black.

But if it is the real thing, then I woudl personally go for it, as long as you can register and insure it here.

I'm looking into this as we speak.

$1600 USD to chip...looking into whether or not that includes registration/duty/GST at the boarder.

I'll keep you all updated.

Can you legally register that car and drive it in Canada?

Also trying to find out about that too Sam.
I don't care if it's a "show car" or a "race vehicle"
I'll drive it either way.

Interested to see how Canada customs and revenue will reactwhen they see I a dc5 itr come in..since the car is so new the only way it can be brought in is in salvage form. Ive read that the dc2 itr's normal and realtime were are much better car for track...can anyone confirm this? If you want the car for limited use great but if youre going to use it as a daily driver and think about it first rhd isnt very enjoyable to drive in north america

you gonna buy a car you've never even seen besides pictures?

if you end up with a pile of shit, you'll never be able to return it.

the only way you can drive anything newer than 15 years or older in canada is if you have a letter of compliance with canadian legalities directly from the manufacturer, otherwise you're breaking the law, and it fucks with everyone's insurance. if you smoke someone they can sue the insurance company saying they insured you on an illegal car, which is why our rates keep going up.

I like dc2 ITRs more anyway.. :(

looked into shipping cars in from Japan before (i'm assuming that's where this one is comming from) it's almost impossible to get them in Canada for starters, and then it's even harder to get them legal for the streets. Japan has different safety standars than Canada and they don't mix well. Certain things like 5mph crash bumpers, daytime running lights etc. have to come on the car.

Now you might be thinking that "oh i can make the necessary mods to the car to be compliant." Well--no you can't. Canadian Law says so, the car must come from the factory to meet all Canadian regulations. Why do you think you don't see any Skylines, "real" JDM integra's rollin the streets of Calgary? Cuz no one has the cash...no, because it's just too damn difficult to do.

Good luck with it, I'd personally trade my ITR in a heartbeat for the new one...but that's just me, i'm tired of my car already.

Well after all of that it looks like it will be next to impossible to get the car here.
It was brought to my attention that the car is still in Japan and not in the US which was first stated.
That being said, Paul hit the nail on the head with regards to being able to import the vehicle.
Too bad really, it would have been nice to have a RHD pimp mobile.
Some day I'll figure out a way to get it in even if I have to go over to Japan on holidays, dissasemble the entire car and ship it over in pieces and then reassemble it as a kit car.

Anybody wanna come with me? HaHa

There's an easier solution, wait 15 years :).

If you're not in Canada you have a chance to purchase a real JDM DC5R. Cars coming into Canada must be 15 years old.

Paul is almost right, you can import cars into Canada, but they need be 15 years old and as such are exempt from certain current motor vehicle standards.
