OK I've been so swamped with work this week I haven't had time to do an overview yet. If anyone feels like tackling it, you're more than welcome to and I'll copy it to the first post.

I might have some time to write something tomorrow :).

Cheers.

Some pics to start off the weekend

McLaren asymmetric exhaust outlets. Anthony Davidson seems to think that with water and oil cooling being on different sides of the car, the outlets are sized accordingly.

Some of Toyota's diffuser. I have herd the words "triple deck diffuser mentioned" before. And I guess I can see what they are talking about.

Looks like Mclaren was using flow-vis again on Heikki's car in FP1.. Hopefully they are adding some beneficial new parts this weekend!

They don't have much changes this race. It's basically the China spec car, with minor changes to the rear diffuser. Flo-vis was used on it. They said it got them a few points in downforce.

I'm hoping for a regular boring dry race with no sandstorms.

Clean roads, clean driving, Ferrari breakdowns... Everything that makes a good race.

wow never realized how hard the teams are running their suspension setup, or maybe there hasn't been a race that has really allowed the speed for that set up

Depending on this cold, I may stay home for this race vs the party at Rage's :P At least with this race we can all get a decent sleep before the race

Sutil was handed a 3 spot penalty for blocking Webber, who gets bumped from 19 to 18 (wooo).

It will be interesting to see if the Brawn guys can hang in there, or just fade away. As long as they get on the podium once in a while, it will stay close. Toyota, Brawn, and Red Bull. Add in Lewis Hamilton, and Toyota's poor performance in rain, it could be really interesting.

BMW looks like they'll have an interesting pit strategy. If there are no long yellows they might be dangerous.

Vettel followed by the BMWs would be my bet.

hm a 3 grid spot penalty. Obviously there haven't been any precedents set here for someone deliberately swerving across the track to block someone since most of the blocking occurs unknowingly by cars driving in dirty air behind other cars going all out in which they receive 5 or 10 grid spot penalties.

haha. Lucky for Sutil he doesn't drive a McLaren. That would've been a 1 year ban.

What a race. God damn I missed live timing. I had to sit there with a notepad writing down lap times and gaps. But I missed even more was getting a good night's sleep haha. Notables:

- Vettel's start destroyed his race
- Great pass by Button on Hamilton, probably decided the race right there
- Button pulling the gap before his first stop also contributed, but got me nervous thinking he was on a 3 stopper when he started going hard trying to pull a gap after his first stop when he already had a sizable lead, not very Brawn-esque, especially when there were reliability concerns with the heat
- The return of the Trulli train
- Toyota with brutal race pace as expected
- Massa OMGWTFBBQ on Fisi
- I thought it was a mistake not to put Rubens on a 2 stopper, mightve finished ahead of Hamilton if they fuelled him to the end when they stopped him early on lap 37ish
- WTF is Rubens thinking waving at Piquet, it was for position. It took him a while to pass that pylon too after he decided to stop waving at him

I had some other thoughts but I forget now.

^^^
As for BMW, I am not surprised at all. I just didn't want to say anything before the pool closed.
Its a lot easier to predict dry races haha. Dry (boring) races ftw!

Just watched the post race conference and Trulli seemed pissed at his engineers for going prime in the second stint. I don't think he had the pace of Vettel or Button anyway even if he went option, option, prime. I think 3rd was the best Toyota could finish today. Good tire prediction btw rage.

Ya, I knew that BMW was going to be fighting with Force Indias based on FP times. It was pretty obvious.

haha I was trying to figure out this morning who I told about the option option prime tire choices for McLaren and Brawn. I'm not surprised that Toyota went option prime option, as they had no idea that the options would perform that well during the race based on their FP data (well, for what they ran anyways). Brawn once again was too hard to read from FP data. I figured they would've been slower than Vettel on race pace, only slightly ahead of McLaren, but they just owned everyone. Fucking sandbaggers!

Why McLaren started Kovy on primes, I'll never know. Probably used him as a guiney pig to test for Hamilton. That and Kimi clipping Massa fucked up my poll predictions hard.

Brawn got rocked off the line by Hamilton KERS. Too bad Hamilton ran out of the juice in S2, without KERS the McLaren is a fucking dog, and Button passed Hamilton like he was standing still. Important info for next race's predictions! ;)

BTW - we were talking at my house... is this officially Ferrari's worst start ever? They kept comparing it to 1980, where Ferrari had no finishes in first 3 races, and race #4 got a single 5th place. Kimi's 6th would make that the worst start ever.

Trini
04-26-2009, 04:21 PM
on speed they had mentioned that the FIA would be holding talks regarding putting Montreal back on the 2010 F1 calendar.
I do hope this happens.
