you want to paint in thin layers, dont give er 1 thick layer cuz the pain will run and look like shit

Its far more complex than that....If you want it to look right you need to step it up.....SUPER Simplified steps:

1. sand, easier to wet sand, use 400-600 WET and get every inch sanded. Avoid "back and forth" sanding, you'll leave finger trails....light pressure and circles

2. wash well

3. pre-paint cleaner (gets rid of oils/silicones), tack cloth

4. in a booth spray an epoxy primer, thin coats, 2-3 total....follow the instructions on the product info sheet provided

5. OPTIONAL wet sand of primer, makes it more smooth in the end, I prefer this

6. pre-paint cleaner/tack cloth

7. thin (THIN) coats of colour laquer. It will be watery thin anyhow (read the sheet), and force you to do thin coats. Do as many as needed for coverage. Laquer properly thinned will dry nearly instantaneously....coats can be done pretty quickly.

8. clear coat with activator, thinner AND FLEX AGENT (follow sheet!!), must for plastics to have flex agent in it. THIN coats, this sprays heavier because most clear is "high solids" nowadays, makes it much easier than before......Clear likes running, unlike the color coat, so be patient and allow alot of "flash off" time between coats (15-20 min)

Get it? Take your time, WET booth, wait till its warm outside if doing in a garage. wear a respirator. I use PPG paint typically, and can be bought at many local stores....No, not the spray can type

My bike done 2 years ago, I have previous shop experience though....Its Voklswagen Black Magic Pearl with the MotoGP version Telefonica graphics....Graphics applied under clear coat.

nice bike turbo!

I'm really wanting a white bike, and it seems painting is the only way to get one...

Personally I would never paint a bikes original plastics, buy a new set and paint those.
Why? because later when you turn around to sell the bike it won't be worth as much...to me a painted bike is a crashed/written off bike and I will stay away.

Of course this all depends on what the bike will be used for.

Those don't work for me ^^ I'm quite tall, the best riding position for me is a Kawi ZX-6R or an R6. The honda, i was always hitting my right knee on the engine :S

Almost bought an 07 ZX6R but my credit is the poo poo
