Feel free to correct me if I am wrong , or you think I am wrong, or you know you are right and ... any other variations :

There are known benefits to using nitrogen (95-98%purity): bragging rights as you're in the know / in possession of new technology; reduced fire danger; fluorescent green caps that go well with your spinning wheel covers and spoiler. The most important : save weight and increase performance, as nitrogen molecules are less dense than air.

Personal / anecdotal evidence belief : nitrogen won't hurt / can possible provide some minimal benefit. Is it worth it? Unless it's free, no.

My take on it : On -20C, the deflation was so noticeable in my recently purchased car, that even the sensor picked it up and showed me a nice ass icon on the dashboard.
In the end, it's a marketing bs, as regular air is ~78% nitrogen anyway.

The big deal is that there is no moisture in the air. HAving less moisture is supposed to stop corrosion around the bead of the tires, thus reducing leaks...

That is what I learnt back in the day...

I thought the reduction in leaks was due to the fact that nitrogen molecules are larger than oxygen, so it is harder to diffuse out. Ive never heard of the weight saving theory though. It seems a bit ridiculous...the amount of weight saved is pretty much negligible.

this is still correct

also temperature effects nitro filled tyres much less because it holds far less moisture so it needs to be adjusted less, and wont change as you drive south or north.

What I love hearing is "Ohhh, you can't put normal air in those tires, they're filled with nitrogen"

Marketing hype and misinformation propagated by dealerships who stand to win from client's desire to have the latest technologies available.

To me, at -20C, the deflation was so noticeable in my recently purchased car, that even the sensor picked it up and showed me a nice ass icon on the dashboard.
