Im planning of exporting a car from the states.
The car is older than 15yrs.

I read that you have to notify US customs that you are planning to export 72hrs prior.

Do i really have to give 72hr notice?
I dont really want to spend the 3 days in the states

thanks

Thats their rule, if you're nice and they're not overloaded with similar requests they can put you through in about 5mins.... if you come across a power hungry pain in the ass expext to get an earful, and maybe have to wait....

I've also heard of ppl not notifying the us boarder, and just showing up, again depends who's working and how their day has gone. Perhaps, phone ahead/fax info and check if the person on the other end of the phone is going to be on shift when you go through, might smooth things over.

Yes, 72... Not 70, not 71... I tried. Its not 'notice'.. You fax the signed title 72 hrs before you plan to cross.. Get your paper work faxed there as soon as you can, and thats all you can do.

Im thinking in this economy, a $100 bribe might pass me through :)
beats spending money on hotel and food for 3 days in the states

You DO NOT want to try and bribe a CUSTOMS OFFICER.

:banghead:

Just get the title faxed to you now, and fax it off to them right away. It can sit there for 3 weeks if it has to.

$100 bribes work in Mexico bro, I bet a US officer would laugh at $100 bribe.
