How much would they give me? I noticed a big difference between Canadian Black Book versus Red Book?

Dealerships give black book value or less. Around 9-11k for yours according to the black book.

They will give you CBB. More if u buy the car at MSRP.

You really don't get much more selling private anyway. If you don't want the hassle, just trade it in.

Yea, I seen a few cars in buy and sell where they are having a hard time selling too, bad time to be selling a used car. :(

If you want a quick sale you can drop your price by about $5K and it would still be more than you would get from a dealer.
Good advise.

If you're willing to take the calls and show the vehicle, it's always better to sell privately.

If a dealer gives you the same or more than you would expect privately, you can rest assured they are making it up on the new vehicle.

Since you're looking to possibly downgrade, you'd get double-fucked, as they will make money on both ends of the deal.

My Murano IS AWD...they are all AWD no?

Yea, this sucks, guess I'll keep it.

This makes no sense.

So if a dealer gives you MORE than you could sell it for yourself, plus applies a tax credit and saves you the hassle, you're getting "double-fucked"?

Someone needs to tell these dealers how to run a business... making money? For shame! :drama:

Canucks - When comparing trading-in vs. selling privately, don't forget to factor in the tax credit you can use with the dealer, ie - trade your car for $10,000 on a $25,000 new car, you only pay taxes on the difference in values ($15,000 + pst/gst), potentially saving you ~$1,300. You'd have to sell your Murano for $11,300 to net the same, or rather, have the deal cost you the same.

And no, not all Muranos are AWD, some are FWD and worth quite a bit less... better make sure!

Edit - I didn't actually pay attention to your location, so obviously PST isn't an issue...

Thanks for all the help.

Yea, knowing that I can't get much for my Murano...blows my whole "downgrading to help get approved for a mortgage" plan out of the water since I owe 16,000 on it haha.

Oh well, I like the Murano, it's nicer than anything else I can get for cheaper.
