What can I buy (other than a truck or SUV) that is RWD, 4 door & V8?

- Pontiac G8 GT
- Dodge Charger
- ????????
- ????????

I'm not up on my MB or BMW but I'm guessing there's some in there somewhere.

TIA.

I would suggest the same thing... I may be a little biased as well.

My heated steering wheel treated me very well this morning.

If you want a manual transmission you only have 3 choices:

- CTS-V

- 550i

- M3 Sedan

If you are looking at used, some other options are;
Lincoln LS
Magnum

More new options;
Jaguar XF
JaguarXJ

Hyundai Genesis Sedan 4.6l V8
Pretty nice vehicle I must say.

If I could afford either,

However, I think a 550i or 545i is cheaper than the m3.

Or... E39 540i.

I hadn't really considered any of the MB or BMW options as I've always assumed the maintenance costs are significantly higher than average. Am I wrong?

It would help if you could let the Beyond dreamers know if you are willing to drop 70K plus on a car.

G8 is good value for the money. You don't want to see the depreciation figures on a higher end Euro.

Not necessarily, if you just do preventative maintenance, you will find that the car will treat you right back. And you dont NEED to go to the stealerships

You can get a used Chrysler 300 SRT8 w/ 425 HP for 20 grand.

They are the best deals out there for sedan performance. I dont know how many of them are out in Alberta but there are enough of them here at those prices.

Charger SRT's seem to demand a higher buck.

Generally speaking AWD adds a good chunk to the price and it just seems like too much stuff to go wrong when you get into higher kms.

so did I actually pay you for my bike insurance or is that a fake pink card.

LOL :poosie:

What are you looking for? Like a toy summer car? Honestly a nice older mustang would be sweet, new camero or challenger if you wanna spend that much. I cant think of 1 decent RWD japanese car that would suit you (to all you haters I mean suit Masked Bandit).

So my options list would be

-Magnum/300C SRT8 (problem with this is the current state of Chrysler)
- G35/G37 (but again you may look a little funny in it.)
- 350Z/370Z
- Mustang
- New Camero
- New Challenger

Of course you paid. Do you think I would send out a pink card without money....HA!

I'm going to be done with the truck this fall or next spring so the logical thing is to get back into a car assuming gas prices go back up. I hate FWD, it feels like something my wife should be driving. I know how to drive thank you very much. And a V8 in a sedan will usually get better fuel consumption than a truck / SUV. I also still have to transport two kids for the next decade or so. I like to plan a long ways in advance so I'm just trying to think of what I might need to start looking at.

I'm not a big fan of german simply due to the purchase price and maintenance costs. It's almost as bad with anything the Japanese build (in V8 RWD) as well so that leaves me with domestic. G8, CTS-V and maybe a 300 or Charger are all that's left really and I'm really not a big fan of Chrysler. Pontiac is going to disolve and the CTS-V has reliability issues (I believe). So what the phuck am I going to buy?

Ah phuck David Suzuki & Al Gore, bring on the Suburban!

Yeah I understand the sedan thing. I know this isn't RWD but what about a subbie? They have some nice AWD turbo power that would still be fun to drive.

I honestly dont think I could pick a reliable, cheaper, RWD car that is currently around. Kinda sad actually.

I don't see the C63 AMG as cheaper than a 50ish thousand IS-F.. in fact I think the C63 AMG has the best resale of the M3, IS-F, and RS4. Its a good deal, the IS-F anyways for the low 50's.

Only reason I ask is because none of those cars start in the low $50k region... so I suppose if you DID find a brand new IS-F for the low $50's, buy it, because someone's about to lose $10k.

The IS-F starts at $65,300, while the C63 starts at $63,500. The M3 does command a premium at $69,900 to start... but that said, if one was in the market for one of those cars, why would you buy second best (http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/comparison_test/sedans/2008_bmw_m3_vs_2008_lexus_is_f_comparison_test)?

I don't think any of these car holds there value very well. As soon as it's out of warranty, they worth less than half of original price.

Which in the end, isn't really any different from almost any vehicle. My truck was well over $50,000 new, three years later the lease-backs were going for mid to high 20's.

The only reliability issues with the CTS-V come about from doing clutch dumps and breaking the rear differential. The car wasn't made to drag race, it does fine on a road course. If you buy one don't plan on doing smoky burnouts and you will be fine. I even get good gas mileage with mine. Some people even put winter tires on them and drive in the winter-not me though.
