Nice, did you need any adapters to make the lens fit?

Looks like a Canon IV, so both the cam and lens should be M39 mount. No adapters needed! :D

Yeah. Leica screw mount. No adapters needed. This one is the Canon IIIa. No flash sync. Took me a bit of looking around to figure that out.

Shot on Fuji Neopan 400 with a Canonet QL17 GIII

This is from the first roll of film that actually made it through developing.
So this is the first time I can actually see how the rangefinder framing really works, to strengthen my compositions in the future with this camera.

Right outside the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary. It's the end of the track. No fence or anything. After I was done, I saw a guy in a CN company car drove up and down the path beside the track. Not sure if he was patrolling the place or what.

Not looking to start a war. My comment on nex? You posted photos looking for critique, since when is a person not allowed to say their opinion when it's asked for.

I'm not apologising, those bmw shots look cut/pasted into the background. That's how I see it. So I will say it.

And "now on here"???? I love how I didn't say shit about you in any negative fashion on here. We all do our OWN things. Some of us actually stray from the norm.

ah ic, looks nice otherwise, what was the original like? gray concrete? the combo between the white of the car and the altered background makes it stand out quite well in my opinion!

the car could use a little more blue, or the background could be warmed up, just to make the colour temp match up a bit better...the car looks like ti was desaturated, none of the reflections show any blue that the background has in it, just a minor thing i guess, might make it look better together better tho...

One suggestion. I know it's hard, but try to remember your rule of thirds, especially with photos like this. It would add a lot of interest to a photo like this to see more of the sky texture or more of the reflection and have the horizon line (leveled) on one of the "third" points rather than smack dab in the middle of the photo. Similar to your second photo. Throwing the horizon line lower made a much more dramatic photo. Just a tip!

good shot dave...I think melinda's got the right idea for it to be better...did you have to play around with the exposure a whole bunch in post process? it just looks a little noisier than the others.

P.S. hard to tell with the reflections but it appears to need to be rotated a degree or so counter clockwise. just that little hair off.

seems fairly specific to say that a landscape should always be shot at F11 without knowing any of the other factors. I've seen plenty of long exposure landscapes shot at a much smaller aperture than F11 that were fuckin amazing...and no dave...most of them weren't panoramas :poosie:

What does long exposure have to do with aperture? I say F11 because everything is in focus. Anything below that and you may run into DOF situations.

Why would you shoot 30 sec of exposure at F11 during the day time?

The point I was making is, landscapes should have everything in focus, ie. F11 or higher.

F/18 first one is 40 seconds...second one is 30.

there's a big difference between saying they should always be shot at F/11 which is what you originally said...and saying they should be shot at F/11 or higher.

Why would anyone need to go higher then F11?

Why would you shoot 30 sec of exposure at F11 during the day time?

Long exposure during the day? It's not rocket science, here's a few off the top of my head that I've done that needed a lot of extra time.

You guys love to split hairs hey...lol

Those photos appear to be shot in a wooded forest with no direct sunlight.

They are also not landscape photos IMO but subject.

Of course you need an elapsed time in order to get the soft water effect.

We were talking "LANDSCAPES"

I've shot many F11 photos with around 20sec of exposure in the dead of night with plenty of light absorbed.

The idea of shooting 30sec of exposure in the middle of the day seems obsurd unless you are using some sort of filter.

That was why I asked the question.

If all people shot pictures all with the same settings, all pictures would so similar. There would never be anything new, and we might as well use a point and shoot....

Unless its dark out, the idea of shooting 30sec of exposure during the day with F11 is completely obsurd.

All you would get is a white wash of nothing.

Unless like I said, you had some serious filters on to block out all the light.

Those serious filters are called Neutral Density Filters.

You're right it's obsurd!

One may wonder why one would spend a lot of money on the 17-55 when most of the shots are taken at F11. Even the $130 50mm F1.8 would be fairly close in sharpness at that aperture.

Welcome back 89coupe!

so you spent $330 US on a ND filter and don't understand why people would want to use a longer exposure? :nut: so the question is...what on earth do you think that fuckin filter is for?

Some people love to have the most expensive gear they can get their hands on and have no idea what they actually own!

I have a friend and he wont using anything short of B+W everything..just because he wants the "baller" factor when he walks around.

Nice shot but one thing I noticed on alot of your photos was the tilt. It's okay on some but on others it's extreme and others unnecessary. Just some constructive critism just bring the photo out about 10-15 degrees and I think it'll look great

To be accurate, he spend $400 on two circular polarizers stacked on top of each other - that's all a Vari-ND is.

I guess I'm not one to talk about spending money on gear...I just picked up a 70-200 2.8 yesterday...but at least I know what to use it for :poosie:
