i brought in my evo for the first service today.. oil change, charge me $150 for it.. alrite i can live with that.. picked up the car during closing time so i didn't really inspect the car that well.. so when i get home i noticed they cracked my front cf lip and chips some paint off in the front bumper. so i gave them a call back and they told me come down and talk to them tomorrow morning.. what can i do now? when i dropped off the car, iam certain there was no damage at all.. what i think happen is that they hit a speed bump pretty fast and hit the bottom on the lip and scratched it push my lip towards my bumper. any help would be appreciated..

It won't help you now, but you should always check your vehicle for damage before you drive off. If you report it before you get into your car it's A LOT easier to get them to accept the blame.

Always do a walk around before you leave the dealer after getting work done. Also if your car is lowered or you have a body kit that is low it's always a good bet to mention for them to take notice and be cautious when you drop the car off.

like others have mentioned, just be as polite as possible when you talk to them. i had this happened to me when i used to drop my rsx off at silverhill acura. my rear bumper was damaged during a service and i didn't inspect it before i left their lot. i called them back the next day and they agreed to fix it no problem.

i don't worry about my car being damaged anymore, though, since i only take my car to option import nowadays, hehe. :D

edit: also, always take pix of the odometer reading on your car before dropping it off so you'd know if your car was taken for a spin *cough*16km added from an OIL CHANGE*cough*silverhill acura*cough*.

Great advice. Yelling won't get you anywhere. Alot of these dealerships will help you if they believe your being genuine.

Nice car, as many have mentioned just be nice about it. They're people 2 just doing their job. Things happen, I'm sure if you're reasonable about it they'll help you out.

the place you drew on the broken part, that would suggest the drive on hoist.. thats most likly how it broke.. but as long as you be nice and calmly chat with them, im sure they will help you out, to give a few hundred bucks to make you happy will bring you back for those 150 buck oil changes..3 oil changes in profit im sure would pay for the damage to the car

Very nice car. Hope everything works out for you.

KalTire cracked my Rieger front bumper into the parking block a week after I got it put on but I caught them in the act so they paid for everything.

Goodluck with the lip replacement, at least they are open to talking and seeing what they can do.

Well i left the dealership this morning at about 10 and was told i would be contacted shortly. Iam now still waiting for that call..
I pretty sure it was when they parked it infront that guy parked to close and hit the curb which caused the lip to be press against my bumper which caused the paint chip and my lip being cracked.

Was this at Platinum? My buddy dropped his Eclipse off for an oil change and left it there, It has a body kit with a low front lip, and one of the mechanics or guys working there hit the curb when parking it and broke a piece of the front lip off. The guy who broke it apparently tried to repair it with tape from the underside, but my buddy noticed right away. They were good enough to fix it for free (obviously) and didn't make a big deal out of it, so I would talk to someone ASAP. Not blaming Platinum in any way, but maybe this same mechanic or employee has a real problem under-estimating curb height haha.

Nice car! I saw you talking to one of the guys at Platinum at the dealership this morning when i dropped off my car. $150 for an oil change?!... it only cost me $50 when I had mine done this morning. I have been going to Platinum for a year now but so far no problems. Good luck getting them to fix it.

They'll pay up, you've got their top of the line sedan. Plus you pay $150 for an oil change.
Also, please lower your car, it'd look and handle so much better!

Sorry to see the damage on such a beautiful car. Just be polite and try to work something out with them, but for next time i would take pictures before i would bring my car in for servicing.

Update:

Platinum Mitsubishi basically told me to take a hike. They will not cover any damage done to my Evo. What they offered to do was contact Speedtech and order a replacement lip for me and I would pay at cost. I simply declined. What other actions can I do? Can I take them to small claims court? Or is it a waste of my time? Or should I just suck it up and move on?

WOW, that is the main reason i would not get into an Evo X... Dealership service. You spend your money at their dealership, they damage your prioduct, then they tell to go fuck yourself. for Platinum Mistu

ouch. try ask for their garage auto insurance (SPF4) policy, and file a claim for damage while in care, custody and care. good luck and nice car!

oh and unless they want to see their renewal premium go up, they will suck it up and pay for your damage. :guns:

EVO X's require Mobil 1 synthetic hence the higher oil change price price compared to the regular oil they use in the rest of the cars.

I have to bring my car in there tomorrow. I don't have an aftermarket lip but I may do a walkaround just in case 'careless mechanic' gets my car as well.

Ok, you've been polite and that didn't work. It's time to start yelling. "We will call Speedtech and order you a new lip, but you pay for it"...what kind of offer is that? I would be back there today asking for the owner and getting this settled. Standing in the showroom telling potential customers about your experience there will also get their attention.

I hate it when people don't own up to their responsibilities. You broke it, you fix it.

^^ yup, they will take you much more seriously once you're in their face. No need to yell and swear, but be firm and assertive.

woah thats terrible... take it to the GM, it's unfortunate you didn't buy the car there, I'm sure they'd be much more willing to work with you, sad but true. :(

Obviously not an Evo with a Factory fill of delisious Mobil-1
