I bought a chamois but it doesn't seem to dry off my car much. What are people using? Maybe even brand name and where to buy. I need something to dry my car properly after a good wash.

How much did you spend on the chamois? You get what you pay for.

+1 for water blade. then i use a shamwow type cloth that just sucks up the rest of it no questions asked!

I find a once over with a microfiber towel is enough. Way better than a chamois. $15 for a huge one at Crappy Tire.

Gonna try microfiber. Paid quite a bit for my chamois but it just seems to never have worked. Does the hood and then it's too wet to function. Doesn't the waterblade catch whatever dust particles may be left on the car and just basically grind them into the paint??? Thought I read somewhere that using that kind of product on your paint could be bad...

Waterblades drag contaminants across your paint (scratches)

Deerfoot may dry your car but will leave watermarks and dust

Try using a huge microfiber towel, if that doesn't work, use it in conjunction with your chamois (chamois first to get majority of water, mf after to clean it up). MF waffle weaves are also good!

crappy tire has water blades but I do agree that they aren't good anymore...I used one for a while and they scratch your car if it isn't PERFECTLY clean before you use it.

same with microfiber, you have to throw them out when you use them.. They collect a lot of crap, that cant be washed out.

-go to any car dealership

-walk to parts department

-ask parts person for the same synthetic chamois their detail department uses

-buy 2, one for outside and one for door jambs and interior

-pay

-go home

/end thread

ps these chamois get better with age, you will love yours

Use cotton towels for initial drying.

I put the towel flat on surface where I need drying and just pat it down. Section by section. I don't rub the towel on the surface. After doing this you'll have a very little amount of water marks. Follow this up with a microfibre cloth and you're golden :)

I have found that a cloth called the absorber is the single greatest cloth i have ever used.
And it comes in a nice plastic tube to store in your trunk

Its called the ABSORBER at Canadian tire for 13 bucks i think, nice big piece of whatever it is.

I will almost guarantee it will be the best drying cloth you have ever used. its some kind of rubber sponge that doesn't scratch.

waffle weave microfiber towels and leaf blower

I used to like the waterblade, but just one little bit of grit can ruin your day

Same with chamois - one little grit and bye-bye

The absolute best is final rinsing with de-ionized water. unfortunately my water is too mineralized to use it without murdering the resin after 1 wash :(

i've tried a bunch of stuff. The waterblade, the cheap Canadian tire microfiber towel. the yellow ones you buy at costco, the chamois .. etc.. IMO none of them are really that good.

right now I use the autoglym synthetic chamois and it works wonders.. been using it for over a year with no problems, and like a previous poster said it only gets better with age.. for some reason...
