was he really worth shutting down glenmore for 2 hours today? i hope the hart foundation has enough money to reemberse all the students that missed their mid terms today at UofC and mt royal, also anybody else who got fucked over by this (500 or so motorists) i was amoung them. nothing like heading west bound on glenmore on the eastbound lane.

when we were stuck i got outta my car and a Lady was SPAZZING saying how she needs to get her kids to some hospital for flu shots because shes already paid for them or some crap...

point is, if i was a terrorist and i wanted to take out the wwe stars (god knows that would solve alot  ) id fly a jet into the building... so retarded... i hope im that popular to stop one of the most used roads in calgary when i die... i dont even watch WWE and i dont give 2 shits about stuart hart.

It was at my Church, they could have blocked off elbow and another road that leads to the church from the back, traffic was backed up all the way to deerfoot. Too bad he died but they have funerals there all the time, they really don't need to screw peoples lives over for a funeral.

I understand he was a celebrity and all but this was kind of stupid. At least announce a couple days before that the roads will be like that. :thumbsdow

Haha, listening to you bitch about some road being blocked off so a funeral procession can go through is pretty dumb. Although he had no affect on your life & you could care less, it is apparant that he did affect the large number of people that were paying respect to him. This is not any sort of regular event, and had the road been blocked for construction work , you would have not posted about it...instead you used the death of a local icon to extract your anger which is lame imo.

yea didnt affect me  read my post dumb ass. it wasted gas, wasted my time, and nearly got me exempt from a midterm. think professors believe "there was a funeral... it stopped traffic... REALLY!"

hes not a hero, hes some dumb ass that was a "pioneer" for a "sport" which is FAKE

WWE is lame, and thousands of people die a day, dozens in calgary... and they stop it for a "celebrity"? and if it was construction that stopped ALL traffic on glenmore your fuckin right id come here to vent.

youve contributed what? 0.86 posts a day since youve been here? how about you show up more and actually make an effort to the community and ill give 2 shits what you say. until then grow some hair on your dick and stop being a jack ass and shittin on threads

Although I can understand your frustration, if you were more aware of what's going on in Calgary... you would be aware of what roads to watch out for expecting a large procession making it's way through Calgary roads as noted in the media. Also, you should know better than to rely on the final few hours before your exam to prepare. Also, my post count is irrelevant & I never mentioned anyone as a hero. Whether or not I should "grow hair on my dick" is none of your concern.

oh i was prepared i just wanted to review my notes, but either way its a piss off. sorry if you felt like i stepped on your toes, just sorta pissed off cause i hate gettni stuck in traffic. no personal attacks intended :)

and relying on the media for ANYTHING is like relying on George Bush to start world peace

Actually besides his wrestling contributions, he also did quite a bit of charity work in Calgary, and accross Canada. Hero might be too strong a word but he did play a major role in our community. I realize that you're pissed off because his death wasted your time/money, but I think directing your anger and hateful words at someone who has passed on is immature and without class, he didn't choose for the roads to be closed. Try putting yourself in the Hart's family shoes, do you think they care that you or anyone else missed/almost missed a midterm? They just lost someone they loved. Try directing your anger somewhere it belongs like the police who knew in advance that this would happen and didn't warn anyone?

we have all had grandparents/parents that have died. we have all loved them, so why dont they get roads blocked? i could donate everything i have to charity and it wouldnt mean anything.

ive had friends my age die. through accidents and suicides.ive had family members die.for a 4 year period in my life, i lost 1 person every year. it is indeed a time to grieve but it doesnt stop the world.

and you cant blame the police either, its not their choice to close the roads, and they are trained to not talk about what goes on in their work. hell when i asked the cop why the roads were closed he smiled and said "you wont believe me when i tell you..." he said it and i just laughed im like "thats it? no drug bust? no hostages?" id expect A LOT more to stop traffic than a funeral, you have to admit blocking off a major road in calgary is a TAD extreme

i dont blame stu hart or any of the harts, i blame whoever decided itd be a fancy idea to block the fuckin roads

403, you need to understand that just because you are some punk ass, the world isnt going to revolve around you. say it was your father/ grandfather, and you read that some loser was bitching about being 5 min late for a test because the funeral, i bet you would be pissed off, so what if it was an accident would you still bitch, show some respect and lay off. Stu Hart was a great contributer to calgary and donated alot to kids and charity the last thing the family needs is to hear you bitch..

hey 403, I really cant believe what your saying...your ignorance is making me sick...you better stay in school for a few more years, cause with that attitude I guarentee you will not make it very far in life. Stu Hart was resposible for millions in charitable donations, and for the record, Stu Hart was not a fake wrestler, he was Canadian amature wrestling champion and was a favorite to win the gold at the olympics if they had not been cancelled because of WW2. I gurantee it was not Stu's idea, nor the Hart families idea to close the road.

How dare you insult a man that was so much to our city a week after his death.

No kidding!!
Stu Hart built alot of Calgary. His family did so much for this city, so too bad for you if your parents didn't raise you with any respect. Maybe sitting in traffic for a couple hours will give you time to think about how big of an ass you are.

eh, idea was ok, bashing him wasn't. I don't understand why the road was closed, was there a parade on Glenmore or something? Unless it was for security reasons (which I can't really see) I don't understand why they wouldn't close elbow instead, fewer people would be affected.

HEY 403!! you're flippin' RUDE
Aren't you the guy who is "engaged" yet has to ask daddy if you are allowed to buy a car? Why don't YOU go "grow some hair on your dick, and stop being a jack ass"(if it's not you I apologize)

It's very apparent you have zero respect for yourself, to not have any respect for this situation. Let alone the respect for what Stu and his family have accomplished for Calgary and themselves. I really hope you don't make it big when you GROW UP, because this type of shitty attitude will haunt you.

I can't believe when I got to the part in your little pant pissing session where it sais you were 5 minutes late. Holy christ 403 you typed all that shit and said all those hatred things for being 5 minutes late? I can't believe you. After you ask permission from daddy you should have your pee-pee slapped by your fiance.

I completely understand the anger and frustration for being stuck in traffic for whatever reason (we all would be) but to come on here after you figured out what messed up "THE DAY OF 403 GEMINI" and type your pointless, unliked, un appreciated garbage............BRUTAL.

P.S. next time you feel this way ......don't share it by posting your inconsiderations on here.

There certainly wasn't enough media attention directed at the road closures which was on a major throughfare in the city that already has major traffic problems.

I don't see why you guys are getting all spazzy on 403gemini.
If I had missed my midterm that day or had been late for it, I would've been pretty pissed too.
I don't think anyone even knew about the road closures. I think if the city decides to close a major road such as Glenmore Trail then they should do a better job of notifying people so they can prepare for it.

Maybe I am thinking of the wrong portion of Elbow, but I don't think they could have shut down Elbow due to all the construction to it. 403GEMINI sais he was going west on the eastbound lane. That tells me they still had some (not much) traffic flow in both directions.

(easier to shut down part of a larger roadway than all of another?)
I may be mistaken but these are only my thoughts.

i would be piised off too if they shut down a road without notice

They did announce it on the news & all over the radio for about 3 days before it took place on most of the local stations and they also said many times "Avoid Glenmore Trail both ways"

The reason we're getting spazzy on Gemini is because he directed his anger towards Stu hart, not only that, but he insulted a good friend of mine that I will miss dearly. And for the record, I don't even like wrestling. He can get as upset as he want over waiting in traffic, thats non of my business...

"hes not a hero, hes some dumb ass that was a "pioneer" for a "sport" which is FAKE"

Actually, you can. Call the Calgary Police Service at 266-1234, and ask for a funeral escort. You can have a 500 car procession, and the cops will block roads off for you.

If you don't have that many people, they won't close off the roads for you, but they will escort you through the route, block off traffic temporarily so you can go through red lights, etc.

In fact, funeral homes can even arrange it for you if your procession is large enough. It's a public service, all you have to do is ask.

You can even run red lights in a funeral procession :

110(1) Notwithstanding sections 95, 97 to 101, 108 and 109, in an urban area where a municipal bylaw permits it, any vehicle in a funeral procession, except the lead vehicle, may, during daylight hours, enter an intersection without stopping if
(a) the headlamps of the vehicle are alight,
(b) the vehicle is travelling immediately behind the vehicle in front of it so as to form a continuous line of traffic, and
(c) the passage into the intersection can be made in safety.

That's because other drivers aren't allowed to drive through your procession... meaning even without closing the roads, you would be breaking the law to drive through their procession:

(2) No driver shall
(a) break through the ranks of a military or funeral procession, or
(b) break through the ranks of any other authorized parade or procession.

Even pedestrians have to give the right of way:

164(1) No pedestrian shall
(a) break through the ranks of a military or funeral procession, or
(b) break through the ranks of any other authorized parade or
procession, or in any way obstruct, impede or interfere with the parade or procession.

In other words, what the Hart family did was totally legal, regardless of how much it affected you guys traffic wise. You can do it too, if you're important enough to have 500 cars at your funeral.

Imagine if you lost a loved one. He/She was important enough to have many people at the funeral. Cops closed off roads to allow the mourners to travel together to the resting place. And some guy rants off on a forum saying your loved one aint shit, and they shouldn't have closed off roads just for you...

Well you get the idea. What 403gemini said was totally uncalled for.

thx rage 2 lol

i actually thought a moderator deleted this thread. ask ben i actually thanked him for deleting it (which he said he didnt... and looks like he didnt heh)

but yea i agree what i said was uncallled for...

but what exactally is the difference of me bad talking stu hart and 90% of the users on this forum bad takling cops? everyday cops go out and risk their lives doing their job, and yet nobody shows them any respect?

I think half of the people here need to re-evaluate half of their posts before they go off and flame me. but yes ive appologized, which 1/2 the people refuse to take into consideration. granted what i said stirred up shit and ill admit, it was highly stupid and immature of me.

what i find truley funny is most people flaming me have been in this community for 1/2 the time i have and made a shit load less posts than i have, just wanting to win acceptance from the more senior members.

everybody makes stupid posts on a forum one time or another, but i made the mistake to disrespect a highly cared about member of society. And for that i am sorry...

Anyways, RIP Stu hart, thread can be locked if mods want

i understand that you messed up and as do you, but their is a big diffrence talking sheit about a legendary hero of the community and some rokkie beat cop that is on a freaky power tripand is ticket happy, Stu Hart did not disrespected, put-down, and discriminate against young people due to the color of their skin and car they drive as "most" police related threads start, i accept your appoligy but mine is not the one you should be looking for, its the people directly affected by the comments you made. i think its good that you understood and stepted up to the plate and admitted you were wrong but by comparing the man to a police officer, just not the same..........

403Gemini
10-28-2003, 02:23 AM
how isnt it the same? its no differeant than if a chinese person shoved me or a black person shoved me and i called ALL chinese and blacks "chinks" and "niggers". would that be right to group every single one of those people in that racial group due to one bad experiences? every group has their assholes and their noble ones. This includes police to even the mafia.

But yes what i said was wrong and disrespectful. And yes i knew some members of the hart family. my grade 8 teacher was cousins with brett owen and the other 10 children of stu. I didnt think before i posted how this impacted her. And for that i regret what i said, i could edit my post and change it, but it wouldnt stop what people read, would it? i didnt think. its that simple. most people have forgiven me, i dont know why this thread was brought back up? :dunno:

The latest diatribe aside, I think the initial point of this thread is pretty valid: If I had somewhere important to be and I was caught in this traffic jam, I would be pretty damn pissed off. And it's really not something you can prepare for... if you didn't hear the warnings, there's really no way for you to find out (that I know of, anyway). Obviously a lot of motorists ran into this problem, which says that there was something wrong with the way this situation was handled. Having Glenmore backed up to Deerfoot is going to piss one one hell of a lot of people.

If I was going to plan a funeral for a loved one that is very well respected by the city, I certainly wouldn't do it in a way that would greatly inconvience and piss off a whole bunch of people.
