Looking to buy a new high performance laptop for school. I also want do to a bit of gaming on on this laptop...Ive been looking at computers from Dell XPS and Alienware (Dell). Im wondering if there are other comparible brands for mobile gaming that may be lighter on the wallet that anyone can recommend? Alienware seems pretty expensive for what you get. Im not too computer savy and im not too sure what's available.

What's your price range? Lots of my friends and family have had problems with dell, so I wouldn't recommend one. I just bought this laptop http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152095 and it's awesome. It's great for gaming (150-180 FPS on CS:S).

Take a look around newegg.ca and check out the Asus and MSI laptops.

Wow, that's quite the nice laptop you're looking for! The laptop I got was 1450? I think after taxes and shipping. What type of games and software are you looking to run? You shouldn't have to spend that much on a laptop that'll be mostly used for school, unless you're going for like, software engineer or something like that.

Well im in school for video production and im going into game design. So i use alot of software that puts out high frame rates that my current comp just cant deal with. Id buy a desktop but Im not home enough.
A benchmark would be playing Crysis with no problems/lag on high settings... Also certain video and sound editing programs running along side eachother (Pro Tools, Reason, Avid)
