Can I use my laptop on a westjet flight?

If so is there wifi on planes?

yes - you can use your laptop on the plane
no - there is no wifi available

In the States, there were a few airlines with Wifi and IIRC, the service got canceled because of the costs associated.

Would be pretty cool though to surf the net in the air.

Yes provided your laptop battery will last for the duration of the flight. There's no charging outlet.
