I have a 2002 Audi A4 Quattro and I need to charge the battery. The problem I am having is with the jumper cable positions specified in the 02 A4 Original Audi Owner’s Manual, which specifies, for both jump starting and charging, to connect the positive to positive terminal and negative to negative terminal, instead of the negative to a ground structure on the dead battery vehicle. This of course is in contradiction to practically every other battery jump or recharge instruction. Is my owner’s manual wrong? And if not, what is the reason for this unusual cable hook up? Thanks.
