Bike accident: 11pm | Macloed Tr -> Glenmore Tr | Anyone know?

Just drove past this accident a little while ago..saw a super sport laying on the ground, pieces of a helmet all over, and a road sign completely knocked over. Quite a few ambulances / police - anyone know the outcome for the rider? Or what may have happened?

On Wednesday, May 13th, 2009 at approximately 11:10 P.M.
police pulled over a 2001 Honda SC3521 motorcycle and a Ford
GT car, as both were racing southbound on Macleod Trail near
36th Avenue S.E. After initially stopping, and the officers
approached both vehicles on foot, the motorcyclist sped away
southbound on Macleod Tr at a very high rate of speed. Police
officers did not pursue the motorcycle. The lone motorcyclist
approached Glenmore Tr in the far right curb lane of travel.
The motorcyclist braked heavily and lost control, collided
with a sign support girder, shearing it off about 2 metres
high and continued to slide before coming to rest on the
Glenmore Tr overpass.

The driver of the motorcycle sustained serious injuries and
was transported to Foothills Medical Centre for treatment.

Speed was a factor in the collision.

The Calgary Police Service Traffic Unit is investigating the
collision.

i was one of the witnesses for the incident, the bike landed 10 meters infront of my car lol. but that guy went through a FUCKING huge sign. I arrived at the guy the same time the popo did and he was laying down and his whole waist was facing the other way, and his legs were both smashed facing different directions. The police were fairly certain it was fatal. but i guess the guy drove away from the cops in a routine stop and then he ate shit.

Lol brake before entering and accelerate through tha turn is day 1 of bike school. I Dont feel bad at all, if he's willing to run from the cops in city traffic, he's probably one of the guys that annoys the fuck out of all the cars drivers and makes us responsible riders look bad.

I know that the bike took off after the Ford had already stopped, but I wonder if they will try to charge the Ford driver with anything relating to the accident since the race started the entire chain of events.
