The Mitsubishi dealer ship is going in right behind Hyatt Infiniti. It dealership will belong to the Hyatt Auto Group. The building won't be ready before the car comes. I was told that they will share the will Infiniti until the building is done.

The car has actually already arrived to a few speciality dealers in the States.... here's one (http://www.evolutionimports.net) that will sell it to you for $36,500 ! :D

And yes, we're getting two Mitsu dealerships by October. One in the Automall as mentioned (part of Hyatt) and the other up north at 24th Av. NE & 26th St. :)

As for the EVO, it remains to be seen whether the bumper will pass the feds crash requirements. Apparently ours are more strict than the U.S. ones?? It's not clear if it will be available or not. Regardless, I can't wait to have Mitsu here !!

wow here in the states especially california we just have strict emission, any car can come as long as it passes the emission test and gets at least a "poor" rating on the insurance safety testing....thats how the mitsubishi montero sport SUV made it to the states....

I still plan on getting an STi instead. Mitsubishi reliablility (or lack thereof) scares the hell out of me, especially on a car with that many electronic bells and whistles.

Show me a car from the group B era that wasn't :). Most of the group b homologation cars are ticking time bombs, on the ragged edge of streetable tune right from the get go. The nature of taking a car only meant to go 1000km between total tear downs and running them on the street.

Ford's Bringing out a Focus Cosworth that will compete with the EVO and the WRX. It's in the new Road & Track, it's going to have all wheel drive and close to 300hp. Although it may only be made for Europe only

Its been out for two years in Europe already (Focus RS). In street trim, its no where close to 300hp. The euro models are around 250hp from a turboed and intercooled 2.0L. Funny, considering they don't have to homologate WRC spec cars there sure are a lot of dopplegangers running around :D Not that I'm complaining

Actually, its not the same as the RS. It's going to be buitl by Cosworth and will have AWD, ~280bhp and will be out in Europe only by mid 2003. I say 90% odds it will not cross the pond, unless the STi and Evo do very well.

Keep in mind that is in American dollars, so 50-55 grand in loonies.
That's alot when you remember that the NA-spec version will be around 45 thousand.

On the other hand, you keep the electronic differentials and between 15-25 horsepower that was lost.

I also don't think that the JDM version can be imported to Canada because of the bumper.

The Focus RS is built by cosworth and has all wheel drive.

too bad they used the Ztec engine rather than the older YBT 2.0 lump. I have seen some shots of the older cossie engine in the Focus and it was quite impressive.

The original test beds used blue top YBTs, but for whatever reason (probably emissions related) they switched to the Zetec instead.

i doubt that the blue top YBT would've made current emission regulations. There was also a green top YBT which was much more emission friendly.

The evo trannies are supposed to be fairly durable at stock power levels, its totally different from the ones they used in the Eclipse/Talon/Laser. I'm not sure how all the electronic doohickeys have an effect though. Losing one black box could shut the whole car down. Like any other car, once you start putting stupid amounts of power through them, they break frequently.

HOK, for real? What version of STi and EVO?

I found the STi 7 6speed much nicer feeling than the EVO7 5speed..... The EVO felt a lot like the Subaru 5spds, maybe a bit better.... ;)

yea it was a version 6 both of them.... for some reason there are tons of version 6 evos here but i've only seen one ver. 7 on the street... i've also driven the skyline and RS COSWORTH too i like the cosworth... but felt so heavy... i wasn't able to push any of the cars :(... they were right beside me the owners... but i touched a 22B!!!!!!!! man i almost pissed my pants.... you should see the brakes on that thing...

Good choice:thumbsup: That sounds about right. The cossies are heavy cars...but it shouldn't be heavier than a skyline...???

Oh well...never had a chance to drive a cossie yet...can you describe the power band in that thing? BTW which cossie did you drive?

well it was the Escort Cosworth RS MK5... i think... with the two vents... everything was nice and loose... the guy said it was 400 hp..but i highly doubt it.. since it didn't feel THAT torquey... maybe cause i drive a 2.2 hehehe but it was ok... i couldn't push any of the cars like i said... so i'm not really a good indicator... i was more trying to compare the transmissions.. no notches on that sucker... but million bucks says that i would like the 22b over all of em...

Aren't Euro Fords designed and made in and exclusively over there?? That's probably why they're better.
American Fords suck.

Ford's best cars are designed in europe, its a fact of life. The american arm of FoMoCo isn't necessarily putting out total drek, but the cars aren't anything to write home about either, SVT models excepted.

To an extent. The body is a regular impreza shell that has the fender cut and the flares welded in. The suspension components are almost entirely different, due to the wider track of the 22B. The process that was used to put the car together was mostly a hand operation, similar to what prodrive uses to assemble a WRC class car.
