Its for a birthday, and its for saturday so it needs to be less than 48 hours notice. I don't want to buy some shitty safeway cake, so any suggestions?

Check out yamamoto I believe it's called. It's on center street and 13th ave pretty much across from suns. They have awesome cakes. My girlfriend loved her cake from there!

Lic's on Memorial has awesome ice cream cakes. Similar to Dairy Queen cakes but softer and better, IMO

As for yamato, I have on two occasions ordered 6-8 hours before the party and they were still able to get it done for me on time.

The rolo one is pretty good and last time I went they even had some pre-made that you can pick from and they will write the name right there. Don't quote me on that though. I think 24 hr is the most I've ever given them

they taste like they are 50 years old. Cake needed to be on the counter for waaaay longer than the package. We spent $35.00 and ended up tossing it. 6 of us thought it was gross. It was an ordered cake not one sitting in the freezer that you walk up and buy.

Costco has some good cakes. Don't know how "nice" they are compared to others though, but they taste good.

Bliss & Co. Cupcakes (3rd Ave. SW, just off of Center St., downstairs) does cakes to order. Have been in when they've mentioned making them same day in some cases, but sure they prefer more notice. Have tried their regular chocolate cake and their flourless chocolate, both were great.

There is a menu posted on their Chowhound thread

Completely agree on the Cakeworks and T&T.
T&T has some excellent fruit mousse cakes.
Cakeworks was pricey, I got a dragon cake from them for my wedding and it was worth every penny.

Seeing as you need it for Saturday, T&T is probably your best bet. Looks WAY better than the crap at Safeway and DQ.

Yeah, I go for T&T. Very light and fresh, and I like the whip cream taste, none of that safeway frosting crap. I wish they just make more of those plain white cakes though. Now they start to put in these taro and chestnut fillings that ruin it. At least some of their cakes are simple.

I went and got one from Yamato today and it was frickin delicious. Gail I would've invited you but I wanted more cake for myself. It was like the vanilla walnut mousse or something.
