I don't understand why all of a sudden my USB's stooped working. Now i can't even use my phone because the only screen it shoes is the Apple wire saying to connect it and go into itunes. I have tried using the XP 64 bit cd and the motherboard cd and still i got nothing out of them. Right now im re-downloading service pack 2.

All help is appreciated. Thanks

So reinstalling service pack 2 didn't help. The yellow explanation marks only come when i plug in the Iphone. If i unplug my printer and plug the iphone ill get the yellow mark.

Put it into recovery mode.

http://weblogs.redeyechicago.com/iphoneblog/2008/07/iphone-disaster.html

It'll reinstall the iphone stuff, do a restore from your last backup, and you'll be back in business.

I believe this will upgrade your iphone to the latest firmware, baseband etc. so if you plan on using yellowsn0w for whatever reason, this might not be the preferred way of doing it.

I can't even get it into recovery mode.

This is the only screen it goes onto.

My iphone is not unlocked or anything. It is locked with rogers.

All other usb's are working. Like my wireless mouse, keyboard, and printer.

Try DFU mode...

http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1034

if you wanna use older firmware instead of the newest one that apple will default you to, download the firmware u want, then hold shift (or Option on OSX) as you click restore in iTunes which will give you the option to choose the .ipsw file.

Dont uninstall itunes. You might lose your backups. There's a bunch of 1601 error solutions and most don't ask to reinstall itunes (which IMO wont fix the problem).

Wow i cant believe its not been figured out yet...and apples still going about posting bull **** about reinstalling EVERYTHING!!!

The way to get over the 16xx errors while restoring on any firmware is this:
Once you get the error DONT DISCONNECT IPHONE OR CLOSE ITUNES. Which leaves us with only one option, rESTART Iphone. STEP BY STEP GUIDE FOR VERSION 2.0.1:

1). You get the error. (Ofcourse)
2). DONT TURN OFF ITUNES. DONT DISCONNECT IPHONE CABLE.
3). If the phone is still on, reboot/restart the phone. If its off then kick it out of DFU mode which is explained in the NEXT step.
4). Press and hold the power and home button for some time to kick the phone out of DFU mode.
5). Itunes will detect it again.
6). Now try to simple-restore it, that is click on the restore button on itunes while pressing the shift button of your keyboard. YOU WILL GET THE 16XX ERROR AGAIN IN 5 MINS !!!! but dont worry, everything is under control.
7). now your iPhone will have the picture of the iPhone cable on its screen. good.
(DONT TURN OFF ITUNES. DONT DISCONNECT IPHONE CABLE.)
8). NOW put the iPhone it in DFU mode. How? Firstly turn the phone off (it might try to start up on its own again but turn it off again). Once its off, Press and hold the power and home button for 10 seconds, then release the power button but keep the home button pressed for another 10-20 seconds till itunes recognizes your phone.
9). NOW restore the phone by selecting the firmware you and and you will NOT get the 16xx error.

hrm it looks like the 160x errors are related to USB problems, or corrupt firmware. Are you plugging it in thru a USB hub or straight into the computer ports?

Also, are you jailbreaking your phone? Because it seems like most of these errors are from corrupted firmware files from jailbreaking.

if they've been backed up into iTunes, then no...

and Rage2 is right... maybe try another ipod/iphone cable? directly into the computer, not through a hub?

Nope not jailbreaking. Last night it said there was a new update and it asked me if i wanted to update so i clicked yes. :(

I have tried 3 different wires all with the same error. I am plugging the USB wire straight into the computer.

Well djayz fixed it. Put it onto his Mac and did the restore. Worked but i lost everything:(

Edit***

Got it back onto my computer and reinstalled Itunes and it did a restore from last night so i got all my Contacts but don't have any of the apps i downloaded but that's fine.

Its kind of stupid how apple release a 64 bit version of Itunes for Vista but not XP.
Here is a link for anyone that want's to get Itunes working on Windows XP 64 bit.
