View Full Version : "Choice" Abortion Pictures on Truck

So anyways,

I exit off deerfoot thismorning onto 24th Street in the S.E. around Douglas Glen/Dale area, and I'm sitting at the lights to get on to 24th....

I see this HUGE white truck... It's one of those 40 foot long moving trucks, usually they are all white, but this had pictures all over it...

Noticed that the pictures were actually human internal looking, I start reading the text and it said something like "This is an aborted fetus after 6 weeks", and they put a Canadian Nickel on it to show the size ratio...

Like WTF?

Text further continues "Choice!" and something along the lines of "The choice is yours" and had their website URL...

Anyways around this whole truck (it was around 40 feet long), were pictuires of aborted fetus's.... Like WTF?

I'm sick of these anti-abortionists pulling this kind of shit. I wanted to get out and beat the shit out of the driver just because he had that shit on the truck. Even walk up at the light and rip the posters down (it wasn't pasted, just a poster being held on)....

What is everyone's views on this? I know we have freedom of speach, but like come on....

This thing always drives around areas like Kensington, 17th Ave, 4th Street, and around the loop thru Eau Claire where theres lots of people and slow traffic.

Ive seen some people get pretty riled up and yelling at the driver. Im sure hes got his doors locked and 911 on speed dial.

If I can watch a violent movie or television show on TV I will have to expect that I will be seeing the odd picture of an aborted fetus a few times in my lifetime.

I say we start a campaign...

"What happens when people get angry at anti-abortionists"...

And make sure we include some graphic photo's...

It's not just the pro-choice group, chief. In fact, most of the time it's the pro-lifers who are far, far worse with the propaganda.

What do you think of the pro-lifers who had the displays set up at the UofC?

It's all about choice...

But its the fact they are TRYING to stop people from having abortions...

And it's their tactics too. I'm sick of seeing these pictures all over the place. I'm glad the people at the UofC got charged with trespassing.

The right to choose isn't at risk here. So they need to STFU and go home... Or find something else to complain about.

Arent pro-lifers and anit-abortionists the same thing..........

He never said it was a pro-choice van. That would have pictures of disabled kids with drool saying "Choose" and have abortion clinic numbers on the side "1-800-fuck-that"

Haha you're right... I somehow completed got that flipped around.

I read about the fetus @ 6 weeks being compared to the size of a nickle and I thought the message they were trying to get across was: what's the big deal? Come on, I've taken shits 10 times that size before.

Holy Cow Dude!
A Nickel is 21.2mm in diameter.
So you are tellin me you can shit a 212mm or 8.24" diameter circle? Damn that's just nasty I think I'd rather hear about aborted babies.

Why can I get in trouble for (or not even be allowed to get) a 'potentially offensive' license plate, yet they can put that on the side of a truck?

Last time I saw something like that on TV, it was preempted by "Viewer discretion is advised".

Generally, these pro-life idiots are cut from the same cloth as people who blame television that their kids are growing up to be obnoxious irresponsible shit-heads, which is why the whole "Viewer Discretion is Advised" message came around.

This should cause a conflict amongst themselves, if anything.

Why do the police not give them stunting tickets? I am sure it must be considered stunting because the pictures are so graphic and distracting to other drivers. Everyone I have heard that has seen it says it is totally distracting and if this thing is just driving around in circles all day...

I don't get what's so offensive about the pictures? If the timy fetus isn't a person yet, then what's the big deal about showing a picture of it? It's just a chunk of tissue, right?

I think the Pro-Choice organizations should have trucks with pictures of unwanted and abused children, living in abject poverty and squalor with their teenage mothers.

Agreed, real freedom to me means you don't get subjected to people don't forcing their beliefs on you. Everybody would be a lot happier if people just minded thier own fucking business.

With something as personal as abortion these groups should be limited to private functions rather than public "shock" exhibitions and protests outside of hospitals.

Reminds me of that stupid campaign between the pro-god and non-god groups... seriously, your beliefs about this kind of stuff belong in your heart, not slapped on the side of a bus or a truck in an attempt to piss off others.

I agree.

I am against abortions except in cases of incest, rape, or the life of the mother is in definite peril - in those cases, the decision must b e made by the individual(s) involved.

That being said, I consider myself a "pro-lifer", and I also agree that adds and the in-your-face exposure these groups seek is wrong. If people want to know what I think, I'll tell them. Sometimes I offer my opinion in circumstances where it is appropriate. But I would never try to shock someone into agreeing with what I think.

Shocking methods only attract attention, they do not steer opinions. Saw them on campus as well, their message is too graphic to be effective.

next they'll be knocking on your door trying to talk you into believing all sorts of bullshit. oh wait they already do that don't they. there should be the other side of that coin displayed too. teenage parents in poverty, or single mothers that don;t know who the father is, or rape victims having to look at a child that was forced apon them after the worst thing that ever happened to tham and having to look at that child every day and remember what brought it into the world. these assholes are way worse than any other hippie protesting group on the planet. They operate on guilt and humiliation. :guns:

I haven't seen the truck yet but i'm a little offended that i might.

i'm all for freedom of speech and expression as long as it doesn't negitively effect anyone else physically or mentally.

i should be just as free to take my child for a walk without the risk of exposing her to this type of garbage. these jerks are impeding my freedom to do that. if i see that truck driving around, the driver will be on the recieving end of my freedom of speech, i assure you
