The cop was going to a call, and i guess it just happened that the EMT was transporting an individual to the hospital when they ran into each other. The EMT didnt yield to the cop as he figured his call was more important and then he decided to pull over the EMT truck

Good read. The cop will be lucky if he just loses his job.

Who has priority in a situation when two emergency vehicles encounter a situation like this anyway? The police or emergency rescue vehicle? What about the Fire Department?

Reading the discussion on officer.com, in that state at least if all 3 are responding with lights/sirens it is Ambulance, then Fire, and then finally Police with lowest priority.

Only exception is if they are all going to same call and the scene needs to be secured first by Police.

Wonder if thats the same case here.

If you click on the youtube link, there are witness statements from the EMT (Guy they tried to arrest), and several witnesses

Sounds like the EMT driver mentioned that he was "going hot with sirens on" what kind of dickwad cop would pull over an Ambulance that is obviously transporting a patient.

That being said, as bad as people rag on CPS here, they are no where near as bad (I find most of CPS very courteous) as the powertripping Sheriffs and State Troopers down South...

that/thoes officers should be put in jail for that, no question

if thats how they treat emt's on the way to ER with a patient, imagine how they would react if they mistakenly thought a civilian flipped them off.

Stopping IMO is wrong....If I'm dealing with a patient, then the officer can wait and deal with me at the hospital........We are super fortunate that our relationship between EMS and CPS is like gold, we respect each other more than the crap shown here.....

Technically, according to the HTA it goes as such.

Fire>EMS>Police

Reasoning is as follows, vehicle size and physics is the main factor. When responding to an emergency "hot", lets theoretically place the police car infront of the Fire engine or the Ambulance. Police slam on their brakes because someone enters an intersection infront of them, Fire truck weighs ??, and Ambulance is 15,000lbs.....guess who's hitting who? In the correct right of way it creates the least danger for all involved.

The working relations between the 3 emergency divisions have to be kept good as they put each others' lives on the line in many occasions and deal with the same people for years.....this guy just ruined it for a lot of other good cops out there.

Here in Canada, the 3 generally get along pretty well from my first hand experience.

:dunno: Maybe the ambulance should have waited....mama sounded ok in the back.

On a serious note, How does a cop pull an ambulance over lol. I would just keep driving thinking hes up to something else.

I informed my partner that another patrol car was approaching us from the rear. As my partner was pulling onto the shoulder, the cruiser came along side our unit and gestured for my driver to pull over. When the officer came to a complete stop behind the ambulance, I noticed a woman in the front seat. Based on the officers erratic behavior, I thought that the woman in the front seat of the cruiser was in need of immediate medical attention; hence, I excited the rear of the ambulance in order to assess the situation. My partner had also exited the unit.

Paramedics say they were rushing a woman to the hospital who had suffered heat exhaustion when they noticed the trooper traveling at a high rate of speed behind them. They say the trooper had its emergency lights on but had its sirens off.

The driver of the ambulance did not notice the trooper until it got right behind him. He pulled over allowing it to pass.

Through his microphone, the officer allegedly said, “You should consider checking your rearview mirrors.”

The driver of the ambulance said he responded by lifting his hands in bewilderment.

Those are some big paramedics lol. It's a shame there's no brotherhood mentality in the video. I haven't checked all the links, but has the race card been played yet?

Good on the paramedics to stand their ground.

john // Jun 14, 2009 at 7:08 AM EMT is on a HUGE power trip himself! If he just listened to the police, he wouldve been on his way… but no, gotta put your two cents in. EMT should be in Jail

Holy fuck someone take that asshat out back.
