Looking at picking up a Talon for a summer car. After seeing this is one of the better bangs for the buck I have narrowed one down.

93 Talon TSi AWD
16G EVO III Turbo
Exhaust
Boost Controller (15PSi)
Wheels/Tires etc.

The T-Case and Tranny have been redone, aswell as the engine in less than 40K kms.

What should I look for on this car? Also, how quick would this setup be and what could it compare to?

Any help would be great thanks, :D

I would watch to see if its running alright on 15psi. If there arent any supporting mods id be wary on whether that was too high or not.

What does re-done mean?

Was the motor rebuilt with stock stuff or did it just have the head rebuilt due to timing belt breakage?

4g63's are awesome, but ~30% of the 7bolt ones built in the US suffered from crank walk from what I have read. You might want to look into this. There are a few ways to tell, but I'm not a DSM guy, I just wish I was sometimes.

Dunno about the numbers, but that car will be fun as hell to drive as long as it's working :)

There are a few really smart DSM guys on here, but you could also try calgarydsm.com or dsmtuners, might have a faster response.

I got a 92 eagle talon tsi awd for sale!

Summer rims/tires, winter rims/tires, boost controller, exhaust, engine was rebuilt about 50k ago.

If you were to buy that one you are talking about you could probably run the quarter mile in mid - high 11's

The engine will be just find on 15 pounds of boost.... that's pretty much what they run stock.

The 4G63 isn't a Honda engine....

Not true. There was never any issues with 1G 7-bolts and a handful (>5% at the most) of cases of 2G 7-bolt crankwalk issues. Problem was that young kids were buying them and cranking the boost without proper mods and every time there was a failure it was easier to say crankwalk than 'I did a shitty job tuning'. As well the DSM 7-bolt wasn't designed with heavy duty clutches and 2600lb pressure plates which could cause end play in the crank.

Threads like this make me miss my DSM....Also I find it SO very entertaining when heavyD gets started on defending crankwalk haha....

Essentially like any car...make sure all the normal maintenance stuff was done...

Make sure all applicable recalls were also done. Although I am not sure how one would go about getting any outstanding recalls done now...

15psi is a joke to a DSM as long as it has some basic supporting mods...

that car will run in the low 14's at BEST, id guess more like mid to high 14's
a FULLY supported 16g will run high 12's in calgary at best.

God I miss my Talon so much. Such a fun car to drive yes they did have some issues but all in all the 4G63 is a fantastic motor it took Jason Sheppards Talon to a 7sec quarter mile pass. 15 psi is nothing for a Talon with just the basic supporting mods you can easily push 20psi I was running 19 with my EVO III 16G turbo with no problems what so ever (Exhaust, Intake, FMIC, Fuel Injectors+Pump, Tuning). I Love these cars to death, get one and treat it well and you will love it. PM me if you ever wana talk about DSMs.

When looking at a talon I look for 2 things

Compression test and info on the last timing belt/ Balancing belt change.

I used to own a 1g as well and i went through 3 engines before I decided to remove the balancing belt/shaft on the 3rd one. Car was beautiful after.

Ouch 3 engines from a balance shaft that's bad luck.
