View Full Version : cost to build a garage (post-boom)
Now that things have quieted down, does anyone have any numbers on how much it would cost to build a double car garage?

When we were looking last summer it would have been just under $20,000 for a double car garage.

12-14k for a 9'x20'x22'. 4k for the pad, 8-10k for the garage. Totem. DIY.
Just put one up this weekend. :poosie:

I have one being built right now.
24x24 with one man door, 2 windows, 18x8 Garage door.
He is also running Gas and 220V.
There will also be a 10' celing and a 5" garage pad.
This does not include ANY interior develpoment other then 2 lights and 2 plugs.
$26,000

  That's the way to do it. I've got an 18x7 door; the extra 2 ft width makes all the diff.
Saw a showhome garage with a 20x8 door.

10' ceiling and an 18x8 door: 32" radius track FTW (track instead of rolling back ~8" above the lintel, is lifted up to 22") thus you aren't smacking your head on the door/tracks if working on the truck...

I just got a quote a couple of weeks ago for a pretty simple 2 car garage and it came out to just under $20,000.

God thats pricey, I built my garage same specs, gas heater, interior completed with insulation, and wired way to many plugs and lights for around 12k.
It did take me 3 months to finish everything though.

I am having someone build mine for me, that is why the price has sky rocketed compared to the DIY garages.

Anyone looking for someone to build a garage PM me, my brother runs a small construction company and loves doing garages. If you are looking for something a little more "custom" (built my garage with "site built" trusses allow a wide open attic for storage) we can make up the plans needed for permits for that too. Sorry for the shameless post :hijack:
