The Subway in Riverbend went through some renos and it's so nice now. It's the new Tuscany decor? I haven't noticed any other Subway's under go renos, I think it cost $100K. Just something to talk about, I don't think it's going to increase revenues or anything, it just looks nicer.

subway had to do these reno's a few years ago, franchisees were too lazy/cheap to do them but subway is forcing them to do it by 2010..so most subways around town should have the new look instead of 'New York mustard yellow' look...but yeah looks much better.

Haha, I'm fine with Subway food? At least the original stuff I like.

Italian BMT on Italian Herb & Cheese, toasted.
Lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, banana peppers, yellow mustard

I'm hungry thinking about it!

subway food is fine, but in a way their menu is bland, stale and boring. They need to spice it up a bit with new sub ideas

if you know where to look, there is sooo much better than subway for a sub sandwich.

I am really not a fan.
But not so bad that i wouldn't turn down their food

My local subway in midnapore told me today that they will be closed next week for renos! This makes sense.

:werd: if you havent visited the Safeway deli before, they have 5 toasted hot subs and make-your-own subs that are way loaded on meats/cheese than veggies

my problem with subway is that the food quality is really low, and everything is just, i dunno... tasteless. they fill the thing with iceberg lettuce and then pile on some low-grade veggies, all of which taste the same. there is cheese on there, i'm guessing for appearance only, since I don't think i've ever tasted the cheese when eating the sandwiches. sometimes you can taste the meat, depending on what you get. they then slather the thing in several sauces and s&p to add some flavor.

all this for like $10?!?!? gotta be kidding me.

my favorite subs? Jimmy johns (http://www.jimmyjohns.com/)

and Erberts & Gerberts (http://www.erbertandgerberts.com/)

of course we don't have these places in calgary (or anything that even approaches the awesomeness). everyone has to remember that calgary is still a small prairie town of just about 1 million people. we just don't have the population density to support diversity and uniqueness :(

A city made up of a bunch of white collar yuppie automatons is the reason why we can’t support uniqueness and diversity.

I didn't think jimmy johns was anything special. Bread wasn't that fresh, was pretty dry and needed more sauce. Only sweet thing was they delivered.

whatever happened to Grandma Lee's sandwiches. Now that place was the da shit. Whatever happened to that franchise?

Last year when I went downtown I spotted one Grandma Lee's that was still running. It was closed when I saw it cause I remember they made the BEST sandwiches/soup when I was a kid. Freshly baked bread and all of that. Mmmmm

Hey nonlinear,

Speaking of sandwiches, etc. I remember you saying you lived in minneapolis for a while. Did you ever get a sandwich from the specialty deli/bakery in the Petro in Clearwater (west of Minneapolis, exit 178 on the I-94).

I'm eating one of their sandwiches right now. Awesome stuff. I had them make me a ham sandwich piled high on sourdough bread with a little bit of garlic butter for extra flavor. Damn good stuff for 6 bucks.

Nope, never been to that place, but it sounds fucking awesome! hope you enjoyed it! drink some good beer while you're down there, too

subway was pretty good for awhile, then quiznos came out and put it to shame. now they both suck. its all tasteless manufactured ingredients that is barely passable as food. id rather pay $10 for a real sandwich than $5 for a subway footlong. quiznos is like styrofoam that they try to cover up by loading on sauce.
