View Full Version : Stolen and Recovered: 02 VW GOLF GTI 337

My friend just had his 02 VW GOLF GTI 337 stolen from MRC parking lot Silver in color, 18 inch factory BBS wheels (polished), red calipers and OEM front lip. Any help would be appreciated, just purchased car last week so he is kinda freaking out. Licence plate is:

Stolen? thats crazy, those cars are damn near impossible to steal without having the keys or knowing the security. Must have been towed.

I'm wondering if this was Blair's 337 that he had sold not to long ago. It had to be towed away... no way to really steal that shit with just some picks and shit.

yah %100 had to have been towed or else the person had the keys, because of the sensors in the key and the ignition if the car is hot-wired, the sensors stop and the car wont even turn over then it would have to be taken to a dealer.. . i think their is only this one left in the city. my friend also had one but the one he sold went to vancouver i think... this car will stand out like a sore thumb, but im assuming they took it for parts..will keep my eyes open.

i dont think that there are any cameras in the parking lot. my friends car got hit and the person took off. when he went to see if there were any cameras they told him no. This was last week sometime.

i dont thikn the 337 rim looks like that
I remember seeing a yellow one at a car wash before ( couple months back) and a black one parked rite next to me ( also couple months back) and the rims did not look like that

337 is the silver version. Comes with 18" BBS RC wheels.
The yellow/black/blue versions are called the 20th Anniversaries and come with different 18" OZ rims. The yellow/black one had diff rims because it wasn't a 337.
shitty deal on it being stolen, I saw it last week at MRC and it looked good.

There are a couple dealers in Canada with 337's left, 1 or 2 maybe.
There are alot of 20thAE's still left though.

More important question - those cars have immobilizers - they are not "steal for a joyride" cars. U need a flatbed to steal one. How was it ripped off?

This is the owner of the Golf GTI 337. I wanna thank everyone on here for all the support. Especially Shadowz and Mikey. Shadowz is the one that posted this forum and Mikey found the car. Update: Nothing damaged thank god, the locks were punched out, not sure how the vehicle was started, crack pipe, crack and someone elses VW registration and insurance found in the vehicle, car is now being restored at VW dealer. Once again thanks everyone

well i was going to go eat with my girlfriend and her family, and she parked rite next to it. i just got this suspision that this was the stolen car. i looked at the plate and when i got home i checked up on it just to make sure that it was the car. i posted and Justin got his car back.

But did they catch who did it? How'd you get the car back, police tow it? How long was it left in the parking lot? Hopefully the cops or someone sat and watched the car for a bit to see if whoever stole it was dumb enough to still drive it around.
It's awesome he got the car back, but hopefully this guy isn't able to just go out and steal someone else's.

I saw my car on saturday. The cops have taken most of the stuff out of the car that wasn't mine. There is still some items in it that don't belong to me so.........I don't know what they will do about that. The lock was punched but I think that is the only observable body damage, it was too dirty to see if there are scratches or anything. They curbed 2 of the rims so I have to get those replaced and I need a new imobilizer. I won't know until tomorrow if there is any underbody damage or engine damage. Whoever stole it had it on a baseball diamond cause there is red shale frozen to it. It looks to be ok though, thanx again mikey and that is awesome of rage with the hoodie. Good to know everyone on beyond is lookin out. I will keep all of you posted when I know more news.

i have a situation where i hope you guys can help me (i fell upon this website while browsing the web). my car, 2002 Golf got stolen about a week ago (the day after my wedding) and was recovered shortly after. the problem is that the Special Investigation Unit for the insurance company (gov't agency here in manitoba) is investigating because it was stolen without any signs of forced entry. it was locked by myself, so its not like i left it unlocked, but there is a 'valet key' in the glove box that they would have used to start it. the question is: can someone force themselves into the car without any marks shown, starting the actual car would have been done with the key. any ideas or help is greatly appreciated. i wouldn't mind having a little more information before the investigators come knocking on my door later this week.

You should probably start a seperate thread. But yes there are ways to get into a car wihtout signs of forced entry. My car was broken into last week and there were no signs of forced entry. Even when you call AMA they can open your car doors in just a few minutes with a couple of simple tools...

what is incriminating about that?
he said he locked his door, he is trying to prove that the unlocked it without leaving any markings or anything
(also there are billions of sites, itsnot like anyone that is even remotely related to this incident will find this post.)
