Im thinking of parting out my 1985 RX-7 GSL-SE, i am selling the fuel injected engine 13b with the 3mm apex seals out of it. These particular engines were damn near bulletproof and only has 130,000 original kms. I'm asking $2,800 firm because i need at least this to consider parting out my car! A rebuilt rotary will cost you at least $3,000! by the way the car currently runs great.

This is a great deal, very robust engine indeed. Esp the 3mm APEX seals are a good upgrade to any rotary engine. Good luck with the sale!

Different senario. The lining of current 13b housings is not ment to take those particular seals. In addition conversations with numerous machinist's have revealed it impossible to machine a rotor to accept 3mm seals without blue printing every rotor specifically. They also do not seal as well. There is no current evidence the standard commonly used 3mm seals will resist more detonation than the standard 2mm seals. Strength has to do with material not just width in this case. I've seen 3mm seals get stuck in inproperly machined grooves, or fold over under boost.

Not a slam against the seller or his product, just thought people looking to buy this motor would like some additional information regarding rotary motors so they can make an educated decision before buying one. Otherwise the misinformation about rotary's will be perpetuated by people who know nothing about them.

thanks rx7_turbo, but that was my point also, this motor for sale apears to be nothing more than a stock 125,000km gslse motor with stock gslse seals. if this is true, i would think one could buy one at the dealers for less. unless there is something special inthis motor that we dont know about. is there something special in this motor? i dont want to loball or say to much negative hear but i would think that for three grand with a stock motor we should be able to buy the whole car??????

Yes I am aware that all se's had the 3 mm seals.. perhaps i didnt make it clear enough to most, that what i am selling IS a completely stock 13b motor... from an 85 gsl-se that includes the manuel five speed tranny... i am open to offers as well... however my asking price was reflecting what i would need, TO CONSIDER parting out my car... i am also taking offers on the rest of the car as of lately and i will post some pictures shortly.

thank you to all for your comments.
