I searched but could not find anything... so if there is something on here already post me a link.

If not, i am wondering if there are any places in Calgary that would pick up your car, tow it, and pay you for it. My buddy just totaled off his 96 Civic and he wants to know if any kind of metal recycler will give him money or if the best he can get is just the car towed for free.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Calgary Metal I think will give you money for the metal worth of the car, and i think it's dependent on weight too.

Can anyone verify that? And does that mean my friend would have to get his car there at his own expense?

If it helps, its the car on the right.

And no, he wants money out of it. Possible part out...

Kidney foundation. They have taken 1 of my girls for me. Didn't get squat for it. But it wasn't on my lawn anymore.

you wont get anything for it, your best bet is to part it out yourself and then send it for scrap.

PNP is the only place that will actually pay for your car, if it's in demand for parts, but they will not tow it for you... you could call them for a rough quote to see if it's worth you paying for a towtruck to haul it in for you.

this.

he wont get shit for it, and i thought that PNP would offer like 100$ if your lucky? plus you would have to cover the tow, tell your buddy he's SOL, and just get kidney foundation or someone to get rid of it rather than having it sit for months SLOWLY parting a few pieces out and maybe making a few dollars

yeah the only way he'd get any money out of it is to part it out.. other then that nodda. pick n pull will pay you bottom dollar and plus you'd have to get it towed there, or maybe sell the whole car for like 200-300 bucks with a must pick up sign or somthing...

What would a scrap dealer pay you? About 3 cents a pound?

Most places are not taking vehicles because scrap steel is at an all time low price. If you strip the car completely, so just to the metal frame, you can get anywhere between $30-$50/TN.

If you are looking to get cash from it, I would suggest pulling any cast aluminum out of the engine/tranny, rims, any of the copper wiring and separating all of that out from the steel. You will get paid relatively well right now for all the non-ferrous metals you can get your hands on, but the steel is essentially worth next to nothing.

The aluminum rims are the easiest thing to make a decent dollar on (at least worth the gas to recycle them) as they are coming in these days in the $0.30-$0.40/lb range.

Calgary Metal stiffs you on everything. If you have a full car you might be able to take it to Navajo metals as they have a shredder and might pay you a few dollars a ton for a full vehicle.

If you have anything other then steel (copper, alum, stainless, etc.) Westcan Recyclers by far pays the best buck.

Thanks for all the responses... I guess he is stuck with parting a few things out and gettin it towed away as scrap metal.

He was turning left on a green light and the other civic came out of nowhere and hit him so my friend was at fault. He thought the other guy was speeding because he kind of just appeared, but there was no way he could prove it.

they will if you cut a huge whole in the tank before it shows up on their property.
