I am almost certain it's the wheel bearing that needs replacing, so I called the Toyota dealership to get a quote and they are saying that it's going to cost between 600-700 because you can't just replace the wheel bearing, you must replace the entire wheel hub. Is this true or is the dealer ship just trying to rip me off, I don't see why you can't just replace the wheel bearing. This is for a 2000 GTS.

Did you try calling another dealer? it wouldnt make sense to have to replace the entire hub however Im not familiar with the Celica. I've only seend 2 types of bearing, bolt on and press in. Most toyotas are press in bearings so you do need a press to remove and reinstall the bearing but it can be done. Give Option Import a call, theyre one of our sponsors and have a ton of experience with this.
Is it for the front or rear?
I believe its a sealed hub with abs sensor built into it, which might explain the cost. I've priced one out for a rear wheel bearing for a 00 celica as well, parts were approx $340
