i was thinking about getting an RSX-S or a Golf GTI 1.8t for my first ride. my price range would be around 10-12k i know its hard to find the RSX-S it that price range but even just a regular RSX would be nice too. i have heard that that the GTI is quick, fun and there is alot you can do with them for cheap.

Have you thought about a Celica?

i doubt you find a rsx-s for your price like you said so if i had to choose between a base model rsx and a GTI id definitely go for the GTI

You can definitely get a very nicely specced MKIV GTI for 10-12g.

I also would pick a GTI over a base-model RSX.

An ep3 civic SIR would fit the bill.

I find the 1.8t a rather disappointing engine, I'd go with the rsx.

This seems like a good buy

Maybe so, but then having a vw, you have to deal with all the little stupid electrical issues instead.

ive owned plenty vw's and with the exeption of the mid 90's models, ive never had any issues with them :dunno:

edit: have you considered buying a 02-03 subaru wrx?

pros: plenty modding potential, turbo, awd, good re-sale value, reliable, 4 doors= cheaper insurance, and a very friendly community. :D

cons: somewhat higher gasoline costs (but not by much), some people find them ugly, the 02-03 have a weaker transmission but if you don't launch it you shold be fine (driver fault)

+ 1 for WRX in that price range.....

then VR6 GTi
Then 1.8 T GTi
Then Base RSX

If you are wanting just a base RSX, I would rather have an ep3 instead.

I love my ep3. I paid 12 grand even for her. She had 86000 km and
Had 1 owner who maintained it at the crowfoot dealership from the beginning!
Stereo is great, the sparco seats r very supportive. Gas milleage is fantastic
And its prett quick to, only 2600 pounds.
You can get race headers, intake and a nice exhaust installed for 2500 - 3000, add another grand for a
Dyno tune and re mapped ecu and your pushing 230 bpu possibly...
There rare to!
