So, I've had my 02 Focus SVT for 6 months. It's alright but I'm missing teh power and torque. It's my dd to the c-train and my winter car.

Focus SVT Pros:
- Rare and only 39,000km, I have not seen another one driving around.
- Not as boy-racer looking as SRT-4
- Kick ass 6 speed
- Heated seats and mirrors
- Good resale value (~$14k)

SRT-4 Pros (from the little I know):
- Big selection availble for sale
- Quick, and easy to make quicker
- 4 doors
- I can stand the looks of a white ACR SRT-4 with a small spoiler to replace the bat wing.

Thoughts? I'm not stuck on domestics, I'd actually love to have an A3 if it was less expensive.

I'm a fan of both cars, before I give my vote, here is my list of pro's and cons:

Focus SVT
Pros:
- Rare and only 39,000km.
- Heated seats and mirrors
- Good resale value
- Not as easy to mod
Cons:
- Only quick, not fast
- Not as easy to mod

SRT-4
Pros:
- Affordable
- Quick, and easy to make quicker
- 4 doors
Cons:
- Boy racer styling
- No rear power windows (for me its a deal breaker)
- Quick and easy to make quicker

If not for the fact that is a DD mainly dedicated for winter use, I would pick the SRT-4, but my biggest fear would be that it would turn into a project car and become not so fun to drive in the winter.
The SVT on the other hand, will help keep you grounded, will be cheaper to maintain (no mods or tickets).

The SVT will retain value.
The SRT-4 will get you laughed at.

p.s. i always wanted a SVT focus, made the jump to another SVT badge tho :P

The biggest problem with the SRT4 is finding a stock one. 99% of them are modded and have been driven very hard.

If you do find one though the good thing is they are basically worth very little so you can pick one up for less than 10 grand.

I'm not sure about the $14K re-sale even with low kms; the Focus doesn't get a lot of respect. There is a lot of aftermarket support for the Fo Fo, however. A Vortec and 10 psi will make 230 to the wheels with a decent tune.
It sucks that Ford didn't boost it in the first place; power has always been the Focus weakness. I guess Ford couldn't have a commuter car beating up on their flagship Mustang.
And don't underestimate the invisibility of the Focus-I never get looked at twice, either from the man or from the fart can crowd.
(Sorry to sound like a Ford fan-boy).

Funny. After owning a white S2 ACR for two years I got lots of looks & thumbs up from the domestic guys (and there are a lot) but don't recall being laughed at. I remember many STI guys trying an failing to pull on me and the odd guy in a Civic get embaressed. Maybe some people did laugh but they were so far in my rear view mirror by then that I would never have known.:dunno:

In the end it's still a focus. What's your point?

To OP, stick with the SVT. I have seen maybe 2 or 3 in Calgary and I think they have a nicer look to them. Procharger, Vortech and even Ford have supercharger kits for it if you want more power.

I would say keep the SVT and throw a blower on it. Decent car with ample power that wont suck you into a project like a SRT-4.

SRT-4 by a mile.

The SVT looks better but the srt-4 has much much more potential and they have proven quite reliable even at higher horsepower levels.

You can keep the SVT but even with F/I it won't make the hp the SRT-4 does/can make and once boosted will probably be a ticking time bomb before the engine blows.

If it's a daily I say keep what you have, if you want a second project that can still be a DD and be fun i'd get the neon.

I'd rather not mod the SVT. Dumping $5k for a blower, plus a clutch probably, would end me up with a high 13 second car at best. I'd rather start with something that's pretty quick, like the SRT-4, and if I want to later, make it quicker for not much money.

A stock SRT-4 would be good, but from the durability of them that I've heard, is buying a modded one that risky? Z Fan said even when his engine did blow from beating the shit out of it, a replacement engine was cheap.

Now, I'm thinking "I could live with a stock SRT-4", but I can see me giving in and modding it a bit eventually. Really, there are tons of used stage 1,2, and 3 kits around, I can't see it being 'that' expensive to mod. However, I could avoid the mod cost by buying a modded one, keeping in mind my presumption that SRT-4s are very durable and replacement parts are not too bad. Example car: http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-cars-Dodge-2004-Dodge-SRT-4-Stage3-W0QQAdIdZ121858464

Although the SVT is rare, stock for stock I'm thinking the SRT-4 would be more fun.

In the end my EVO is just a Lancer. What's your point? Or is that as intelligent a post that you can squeeze from your peanut sized brain?
