How can you forget something like that? If you had your life savings in your mattress, wouldn't it be "top of mind" 24 hours a day?

And a million dollars? Perhaps a life time of fraud finally came full circle.

So the daughter bought a new mattress without any knowledge of the 1mill. Threw away the mothers old mattress containing the 1mill. Then the mother awakes and remembers that there was a mill in the mattress?

If that's true makes sense, but if the person knew there was a million in the mattress and threw it out I call BS. There was probably a couple thousand or little more and they are just exaggerating to make a story or spur some interest into finding it.

A million dollars in a mattress=lumpy mattress=bad sleep=poor memory retention=forgetting there's a million dollars in the mattress=throwing mattress in garbage=digging through the landfill.

"She refused to say how she acquired such a large sum......... The woman said the money had been stashed in a mattress because she had had traumatic experiences with banks in the past. She would not elaborate."

Yea being a bank robber in hiding is just as scary as being robbed.

How much would a million weigh? On top of the weight of the mattress itself, I could see it being abnormally heavy.

Depends what it's in. A million in hundreds doesn't weigh much.

20s? You'd notice it.

werd ^^

10000 hundreds in a million.

each bill weighs 1 gram.

so 10000 grams

10000 / 28 = 357.142857 ounces

357.142857 / 16 = 22.3214285625 pounds

that is of course if it was all 100 doller bills.
