a turbo car can be very reliable as long as you know what you're doing and everything is doen properly

Yeah, go with the 10V turbo (that's the 88 5000CS engine right you were talking about right?) How many K's on the engine? How's the turbo's condition? Do you know what the compression was and if it was a rollover or not? Might be a good idea to find all this stuff out beforehand, especially since you only have a 90-day warranty from Montgomery. Definitely better to START with a boosted motor, therefore saving you the time/$$ to get an N/A one 'up to par' for a turbo. Also, you're gonna do ALL the engine seals and check/replace the water/oil pump, plus all the tune-up crap, right? Start calling around for part prices; prolly looking at around $400-500 for these things, granted you actually NEED a water/oil pump. Try A & H Mueller, Auto-Marine Specialties, and there's also a sh*tload of VW/Audi parts places in VanCity too. Crappy Tire/Auto Value carries some/most of these things but the quality isn't as good as the German-made products....
BTW have you tried looking for your motor elsewhere? Try Black Gold Imports or even try phoning the wreckers in VanCity too...
