Ouch! Reminds me of that cargo ship full of Mazda's that tipped over a while back. They ended up crushing all of the cars, even the ones that weren't damaged.

I saw this a while ago but it still makes me cringe.

They basically did that for quality control so that the damaged goods don't get sold on the black market. That's actually good business practice for Canon since they can just fix lenses anyways. It's not like they ran the whole the damn thing over with a bulldozer. :rofl:

They should've send a message to the Nikon fanboys and charged $20 for a hammer and 5 mins. Would have made $000's.

Doesn't make sense to me. I had my 24-70 2.8 break into 4 pieces one time and it cost Canon a whopping $86 to fix it. Why in gods earth would they shatter these lenses unless they were catastrophically damaged? It's really painful seeing that!!!

Which begs the question why doesn't nikon do this lol.
