Thanks for pulling up the previous thread Rage2. And thanks for the kind words 89Coupe and SilverRex, even though I'm not the one who did all of the mods.

SilverRex, didn't you just sell your WRX? It's still not too late to have a white prelude - just buy it. Then I can still say that it's never been winter driven.

Bigboom is right, I'm trying to live the S2000 dream.

And hondarunner, I probably won't consider parting for a while. I want to try to sell it as a whole first. Once the weather's good enough for pics, it's going into the autotrader and bargain finder.

Gorgeous car. Tried to get one of my buddies to buy it before... but sadly, he passed.

Consider a trade... my Jetta for your Lude? ;)

Bump for a sweet ride

If the rates are killing you why don't you try to re-finance with a lower rate?
The banks right now are offering me 25K on a car - kinda strange when they call me and offer $$$.

Sweet car, too bad you have to sell it. Do you have any performance numbers for that supercharger?

rc2002
10-30-2003, 11:13 PM
Thanks for the bumps and compliments guys.

nickyh, you're right that bank loans come pretty easily. But the interest on bank loans always seems to be higher than the financing rates at dealerships. I called Honda West today and they have one last S2000 left and they're offering me 0% financing for 4 years and 0 down for 6 months.

EacydeLude, sorry I don't have performance numbers. If you check out www.jacksonracing.com the numbers from the dyno is about 235whp (as opposed to approx 155whp stock).

I may consider trades that will get me a higher trade in value at a dealership. i.e. newer hondas.

Do you know what bank is offering you this deal? I know Honda West uses First Calgary Savings to offer a lower leasing rate than Honda Canada Finance.

0% financing? that is almost unheard of from Honda!!! I don't think its ever happened:dunno:

I have no idea what bank it is, but that's what the sales person told me. I'm probably going to go in tomorrow to check it out in person.

It'll definitely be more expensive at a dealership. But some used ones are going for pretty decent prices in Ontario. Shipping is only $750 from there, and you don't pay PST if you ship.

I found a 2002 S2000 with 29000km for 32,700.

Wow, that is quite a steal for an 02

I doubt many S2K's are driven in the winter in Ont but becareful anyway. Eastern cars are more prone to rusting but its definitely worth considering, price wise.

So jealous if you do get the white one for 0% financing!!! DAM!!! hehe

max_boost

I'm just curious to see if you plan to winter drive the S? If not, there is no real use for a rear glass window so get an 01 to save yourself some cash......*shameless plug* haha

:(

Just my own opinion ... don't buy any car from the East ....

It may save you money now .. ( just like buying a car from US, Mexico ... or Germany can save lots of money too .. )

But ... bad condition( not all but 90% :thumbsdow )

And .. you may save $ 3000 or so .. but then when you resale the car ... no one wants a east coast car .... .. unless you sell the car for $ 3,000 less anyway ... :dunno:

Well . of course . $ 3K is $ 3K ..but $800 shipping, plus few hundreds dollars out of province inspection ... and worse condition .........

It's not feasible for me to have both a winter and summer car due to cost, insurance, space, etc. And I'm too spoiled to store my car and take transit in the winter - so I'd almost definitely be driving the S2K in the winter. The RWD might be a bit tricky, but the almost non existent low end torque will definitely make it easier to drive in the winter.

If I went for the 2002, I would go out myself and do a thorough check on the car or get someone I trust out there to do it for me. i.e. compression test, safety test, service records, check for rust, etc. etc. etc.

If it's a year 2002 model then it should be in the same condition as cars here. But there could also be problems with it as well - I'm thinking about forking out the extra dough and going for a brand new one. Either that or wait for the 2.2L model that comes out next year. Here's the summary of differences between 2003 and 2004:

http://www.vtec.net/articles/view-article?article_id=152706

Anyway, back to the topic at hand. I gotta get rid of my car before I can do anything. Any takers for the Prelude?

How much hp/torque????

I really want this car.

rc2002
11-05-2003, 12:23 AM
I'm not sure of the exact numbers but I've included a Prelude dynoplots from the Jackson Racing website (www.jacksonracing.com). This compares torque and horsepower differences between stock and supercharged preludes.

Note that stock means an AEM Cold Air Intake, DC Headers, and Greddy Catback/Exhaust. The stock makes 161.7whp/133.1ftlb. And the supercharged makes 234.5whp/182.0. Also note that whp = wheel horsepower.

http://www.jacksonracing.com/pages/details/detailjr/images/preludst_vjrsc.gif

I don't have actual dynoplots for my car but I'd expect around the same results. I'm not sure how Mugen headers compare to DC headers or how Tanabe Hypermedallion compares to Greddy but it should be comparable.

The previous owner did a 14.7 or 14.8 in the 1/4 mile I believe.
And I always take company dynographs with a grain of salt. You rarely (if ever) see the gains as they advertise. I have only seen 1 JRSC Prelude make the advertised 234whp, the rest have ranged anywhere from 200whp-220whp. :)

TTT. The car's still here. Considering trades for something that will bring in a better trade in value at a dealership.

This will probaby worth more ! :D

http://forums.beyond.ca/showthread.php?threadid=27861

I think any aftermarket "add-on" will deduct the Trade-in Value to all dealerships. :dunno: :( so better do private sell for a modified car.
Stock and top model car can get the best money for trade-in:thumbsup:

Yeah, that car is probably worth more at a dealership. Did you post that thread because you're saying that he would consider trades?

I realize that private deal is the way to go. I took it to Honda West and got a trade in value of 20000. There's paperwork to prove that too.

$ 20,000 ? trade in value from a dealership ? :confused:

Is that the "turth" net value of your car ?? or they just "show" you your car worth $20,000 toward to their retail price ? (ie: $49,000 for a 2003 S2000) since at year end, dealerships offer lots of $$ rebate on their in stock units, they may add those $$ toward to your trade in, if $20,000 is the "net" value, mean you get $20,000 plus gst credit, that is $21,400 ! if you can get $ 21,400 for you car,and still get the "cash" discount, then you should be very happy and go ahead !

Good luck ! S2000 is so much nicer then Prelude !
